A Vermont man is convinced that Bigfoot is roaming through his apple orchard at night...and he claims to have footage to prove it.

Frank Siecienski, from Hubbardton, noticed that his apple trees were being ravaged at night but he suspected a deer was to blame.

But one night the man decided to install a camera to catch a glimpse of the mystery intruder and footage showed what appeared to be a large monster, he suspects could be Bigfoot.

Siecienski, a self-proclaimed Sasquatch researcher, said he decided to install a camera on his property back in September 2010, when he noticed damage to his various plants and trees.

'I pointed it out to my wife and she says 'oh God,' the deer must have been hungry. And I said no, a deer couldn't have eaten that many apples in one night,' told WCAX-TV.

The man, who has been tracking Bigfoot for 15 years, said he was delighted to discover the 'mysterious animal' approach and scare off a coyote and points to the stills from the video as proof that the creature does in fact exist.

'I found out from researchers that this is a female sasquatch with its young underneath it. It's protecting its young,' he said.

'I just hope it returns,' he added.

But the Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife has responded that the figure in the footage, 'Is probably an owl.'

Bigfoot

Bigfoot: The mythical creature can measure up to 10 feet tall and can weigh up to 500 pounds

Paul Bartholomew, of Whitehall, New York, says that there have been reports of Bigfoot sightings in the Northeast for hundreds of years.

'Red glowing eyes, about 7 feet tall, making a sound like a pig squealing or a woman screaming and walking like a man but looking more like a gorilla,' he said.

'It's a global phenomena and it's here in our own backyards,' he said.

'You go back to the Algonquin and the Iroquois and they talk about the stone giant and the giant men of the mountains. The Abenaki had their creature reports. So this whole area is rich in traditional reports of this creature,' he added.

Bigfoot, who is also called a Sasquatch, are ape-like creatures that are believed to primarily inhabit the Pacific Northwest in the U.S.

The hairy animals are believed to be just a creation from folklore tales but others maintain they are real.

They are described as leaving gigantic foot prints, earning the name 'Bigfoot,' that could measure up to 24 inches long and 8 inches wide.

They are said to measure up to 10 feet tall and can weigh up to 500 pounds.

The strangest thing about Bigfoot is the way it effects the focusing mechanism on even the most modern cameras. Lots of government funded research definitely needed here!
