'I didn't break his heart': Louis Smith's ex-girlfriend Billie Whyatt reveals HE was the one that left her

His career has taken off after he played a starring role in this summer's Olympics and now on Strictly Come Dancing.

But Louis Smith's love life isn't quite as exciting yet, as the young heartthrob said the split with his ex-girlfriend has left him heartbroken.

And now former girlfriend Billie Whyatt has opened up about their relationship, claiming it was actually the gymnast who left her.

Speaking to The People, the 20-year-old blonde claims that despite Louis saying the split ripped his heart in half, the gymnast was the one who made the decision to move out.

Billie said: 'When I read that I broke his heart I don't feel bad because we did the right thing at the time and he knew it too.'

Billie and Louis grew up together in Petersborough and fell in love aged 18, but the strain of the gymnast's career took its toll on the young couple and they eventually split in April 2011.

After living together for several months, the heartthrob moved back in with his mother, Elaine Petch, leaving Billie in the house they shared together.

'We lived together for a couple of months but it was so intense with all of his gymnastics and that's why he moved home and I think he's still living there,' Billie told the newspaper.

She added: 'When he left I was shocked. But we talked about it and I realised perhaps we needed to have a break and he had to concentrate on his gymnastics.'

The star, who is a firm favourite on this year's Strictly Come Dancing, has spoken out about his relationship with Billie in the past and tells a different story.

Louis told Heat magazine: 'I've had one girlfriend, one break-up, and that was very painful indeed. I think that's probably why I'm hesitant to get into another relationship.'

'I'm not saying that all women are the same, and I don't want to get into what my ex did, but you want to trust someone. And it's hard when you put everything inyo a relationship and your trust gets abused.'

But Billie remembers their romance very differently and insists the pair split up because they wanted different things.

Louis was focused on his career as a gymnast and was training hard for the upcoming Olympics, whereas the pretty blonde wanted to get a degree and travel the world.

Since their split, the Strictly star was briefly linked to model Chantelle Hole after they went on holiday together to Marbella earlier this year.

And espite their difference of opinion on their break-up, Billie claims she is still friends with the star and his family and she hopes he finds a new girl to love soon.

She added: 'Any girl would be lucky to have him as their boyfriend.'

Sorry but I find it nasty when someone not famous runs to the media with a "story" about their famous ex. He seems like a good lad and I can only wish him the best in the future.
