A 16-year-old boy from Georgia was expected to make his first court appearance Monday morning after allegedly stabbing his stepfather to death with a samurai sword, police said.

Shortly before midnight Friday, a relative of the teen called 911 to report the stabbing at the Jasper home, Lt. Kris Stancil of the Pickens County Sheriff’s office said.

Deputies found the victim, Christopher Allen, inside the Fern Creek Court home, located in the gated community of the Preserve at Sharp Mountain, Stancil said, about about 60 miles north of Atlanta.

The teen, whose name was not released, was arrested and taken in custody shortly after deputies arrived at the home.

Allen, 36, was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, where he died during emergency surgery, Stancil said.

Investigators believe the teen stabbed his stepfather with a Samurai-style sword following a verbal altercation, Sheriff Donnie Griggs said in an emailed statement.

The sword was part of a collection of replica items in the home, according to police.

The teen is expected to face a murder charge and was being held at the Juvenile Detention Center in Dalton, Stancil said.

'At this time, he is still being treated as a juvenile until his case is forwarded to Superior Court,' Stancil said Monday.
