Battle royal: Is Prince Harry in a long-distance war for the heart of model Cressida Bonas?

Prince Harry is engaged in a long-distance duel over model Cressida Bonas with her former boyfriend Harry Wentworth-Stanley.

Prince Charles confirmed earlier this month that his youngest son Harry had telephoned home three times since he began his tour of duty in Afghanistan.

He has, though, been in more frequent contact with 23-year-old Cressida, with whom he enjoyed a flirtation before he left for Camp Bastion.

'Harry has been ringing Cressida regularly,' said one of her friends. 'He's been pleading with her to wait for him until he comes back.'

The Apache helicopter co-pilot gunner, who turned 28 while in the war-torn country in September, is due to return to Britain in January after four months on duty.

And it looks like the handsome prince might have some competition in pursuit of the society blonde.

Harry isn't the  only man pursuing Cressida, the daughter of Lady Mary-Gaye Curzon, the Sixties 'It Girl' - and four-times married daughter of World War II racing driver Earl Howe.

Former boyfriend Harry Wentworth-Stanley is still keen, say sources.

'Cressida is still very fond of her ex-boyfriend and, since Harry's been on the scene, he's been after her again,' says the friend.

'Cressida is torn. She likes Harry but is not the sort to be bothered about his title.'

Mr Wentworth-Stanley, 23, whose stepfather, the Marquess of Milford Haven, is a cousin of the Queen.

He and Cressida were a couple while students at Leeds University, but he went travelling after graduation and their romance cooled. In July, she was said to be 'desperate' to rekindle their relationship.

Harry, the third-in-line to the throne, and Cressida were seen embracing in July at a Batman movie premiere.

And Cressida joined Harry on a holiday to Richard Branson's Necker Island before he flew to Las Vegas for his infamous 'naked' high jinks.

Cressida's half-sister, Isabella Calthorpe, spurned Prince William's affections and is due to marry Sam Branson, the son of the Virgin tycoon Sir Richard Branson, in March.

Cressida's father is Lady Mary-Gaye's third husband, the businessman Jeffrey Bonas. They divorced when Cressida was five years old.

Model? Is that what we're calling the useless rich with no jobs now?

He is independently wealthy, has an army career to forge, an heir isn't urgently required and he is still young. As we saw with Prince Charles, it doesn't work out well when you pressure a Windsor man to marry before he is ready to. Leave Harry alone.

i am afraid he is not exactly husband material. any girl who marries him will only do so for the status. sadly.

Tinky Winky Thompson and Creasy Weasy Johnston are both still available they have all the right credentials no brain lots of money and a snooty family to boot yah. But I think our brave prince stuck in his cocktail bunker miles from the front already has his eye on that lap dancer he met in Vegas in the jacuzzi and people think this family have the right to be a monarchy what a hoot.

Stay away Cressida, Harry has absolutely nothing going for him. Boorish, dim, no morals, immature, not good looking and always in the limelight............not a good deal.

I like Harry, I do, but Cressida, if you want to be happy, go for the other guy. He won't publicly humiliate you as Harry will. He just can't help himself.

...said a 'friend" of Cressida. Was the picture of 11 year old Cressida also supplied by this good friend? This 'friend' should ask herself why Harry would want to be involved with someone who would sell their story to the newspaper as a real friend protects your privacy.
