Bunzie’s Cove: Cebu’s Caribbean Cove

Cebu is full of unexplored beaches. If you get tired of the usual beaches in Mactan, visit northern or southern Cebu. You can find plenty of the best beaches there. Case in point, hidden in North-eastern Cebu is a quaint boutique beach resort called Bunzie’s Cove. Fondly known as “the Caribbean Cove of Cebu” by well-travelled locals and expatriates alike, it is a perfect escape from the busy city life.

What to do?

Bunzie’s Cove boasts of panoramic views of Tabogon Bay and Camotes Sea. Their evenings are often welcomed by a beautiful sunset view. The pebbly shoreline fringed with rocky edges has become a favorite cliff-diving spot for thrill seekers. Outrigger boats are available upon request. Be sure to rent your boat before you jump off the cliff. You may need a ride back to shore. Don’t be fooled by the distance and depth.

Guests have an option for Day Use or Overnight.  Day-trippers can enjoy the relaxing lounge chairs at the Grecian verandah, use of the dirty kitchen, pebbly beach, swimming pool and comfort room for P100 per person. Corkage fee is P500 for everything you can pack. Just make sure you bring everything you need to cook (including gas, matches, coal and food).

For weekenders, the Bunzie’s Cove has rooms that offer scenic ocean views. The garden cottage is a tourist favorite. It sits atop a cliff with a suspended terrace overlooking the varying aquamarine hues.

How to get there?

Located 80km North-east of Cebu City, you can take a bus from the North Bus Terminal to Sogod for Php 80 per trip. For those who would like to take a private vehicle, you can drive all the way to the north until you see the “Welcome to Damulog, Sogod Cebu” sign. After about 150 meters of driving you will see the big billboard sign of Alegre Beach Resort—that’s the landmark in front of the corner. Then turn right to take the road to Borbon.  From Borbon proper, drive for about 7km then you will see the sign after crossing a little bridge that says “Welcome to Tabogon.” Go 3km more to reach Bunzie’s Cove in Brgy. Bitoon, Tabogon. Bunzie’s Cove is located on the right side with the red arch gate.
