$18 million grant will bring dental care to tens of thousands of L.A. kids
The Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC will use a nearly $18.4 million grant to provide much-needed dental care to 46,000 children age 5 and younger. The aim: to educate and channel children early to affordable clinics, setting them on a lifetime path to good dental health.
Sweetener may help explain worldwide diabetes epidemic
The risk of type 2 diabetes is 20 percent higher in countries that use lots of high fructose corn syrup compared to nations that shy away from the sweetener. The U.S. is the world’s biggest consumer of the product, which is a key ingredient in sodas and a variety of foods.
