Balancing the budget: Jessica Alba splashes out on a fancy lunch but makes up for it with a trip to discount retailer Target

She may be a Hollywood star but it seems that even Jessica Alba can be budget conscious.

After treating herself and her daughters to lunch at upscale restaurant Tavern, the mother-of-two headed to discount retailer Target to pick up some books.

Wearing a pair of off-white jeans with an off the shoulder white jumper and matching high-top sneakers, the fashion conscious star carried her youngest daughter on one hip as they left the Brentwood hot spot.

She's got her hands full: The mum-of-two also has a line of eco-friendly baby and home products

The Fantastic Four star and her children Honor and Haven dined with friends at the chic eatery, which is also a favourite of Kate Beckinsale, Jennifer Garner and Gwyneth Paltrow's.

But while the actress-turned- entrepreneur is estimated to have a net worth of $40 million, she has made a point of staying grounded and teaching her children that they need to give back.

'We talk about keeping [Honor] humble and not trying to over spoil her and letting her understand that there are people that don’t have what she has,' Jessica told People last year.

On Saturday the foxy Sin City star was out again with her two girls.

But it appeared that Alba's daughter Haven was feline in the mood for something a little different, as she wore a cat-eared hat on an outing in Los Angeles on Saturday.

The one-year-old looked impossibly cute in her all grey outfit and woollen headgear as her mother carried her during a trip to Beverly Hills.

They were joined by Jessica's oldest child Honor as they enjoyed a stroll in the cool December weather.

The Fantastic Four favourite looked as cheerful as ever as the terrific trio spent some quality time together.

She managed to look amazingly stylish for a Saturday outing in a grey woollen jacket, blue scarf, jeans and knee high boots.

Ambrosial: The only downside to the youngster's woollen hat was it hid her spectacular head of red hair

Honor, four, also looked adorable in a pink jacket, skirt and matching shoes.

Jessica has a busy schedule coming up, as she stars in a number of film projects, including the star-studded sequel Machete Kills where she'll join Danny Trejo, Sofía Vergara, Mel Gibson, Vanessa Hudgens, Charlie Sheen, and Lady Gaga.

In the highly-anticipated Robert Rodriguez flick, the U.S. government recruits Machete (Trejo) to battle his way through Mexico in order to take down an arms dealer (Gibson) who's set to launch a weapon into space.

She'll also play tattooed Michelle in a movie called A.C.O.D., in which Jessica stars alongside Adam Scott, Jane Lynch, and Amy Poehler.

I love Target but I don't consider it as a discount store. They have some good deals but not low low prices. Anyway, I do like her mainly because she does seem like a hands on mom and she's stylish and classy too. No, celebs don't have to be primped up all the time but she has great fashion sense and always looks nice. I wish I had the money to dress better like this but I can dream I guess.

and again the DM stalks a mom out with her children. You have a bunch of these articles every day where parents who happen to be celebrities are out with their kids and you're intruding on this personal life. The mom's or dad¿s may be celebrities but the children aren't and deserve time with mom without them being stalked and cameras shoved in their faces, how about it, Whenever you¿ve posted this comments from me you¿ve had many green arrows showing support. Unlike most sites DM you get almost immediate feed back from your readers. With so many expressing distaste for this subject why not listen and stop it?
