MOS Diary: Kate-gate... Winslet ditches plans for her £2m fortress after neighbours complained of them being 'visually intrusive'

Pressure: Kate Winslet and Ned Rocknroll have seen their house plans hit by complaints from neighbours
Kate Winslett's hopes of turning her new home into a fortress have hit a snag.
The actress bought a £2 million property in West Sussex in September, before announcing her plans to return to Britain following a spell living in the United States.
The 37-year-old and her new husband Ned RocknRoll, 34, wanted to erect oak gates and electric fencing around the 15th Century pile. But I can reveal they have now shelved the idea after parish council members complained they would be ‘visually intrusive’.
Despite the setback, at least the couple can be assured of some privacy when they go on honeymoon – Ned’s uncle Sir Richard Branson has offered them the use of his estate on Necker Island in the Caribbean.
The pair married in the US last week and Oscar winner Kate is reported to be keen to add to her family – she has a daughter, Mia, 12, by first husband Jim Threapleton, and a son, Joe, nine, by her second husband, Sam Mendes.
On a slippery slope?
Is fame taking its toll on Cara Delevingne?
The model, 20, who has been compared to Kate Moss in terms of enjoying a party lifestyle, broke her thumb before Christmas . . . but has no idea how.
She tweeted: ‘At least I know I had a good one.’
Cara, named Model of the Year in February, has been advised to calm down by friends.
‘We’re all worried,’ says a pal. She’s been in the limelight and it can be overwhelming at a young age.’
Strictly Come Dancing winner Louis Smith wants to rival David Beckham – by bringing out his own range of underwear.

The hunky 23-year-old Olympic medal-winning gymnast, who was rewarded with an MBE yesterday, plans to design and model the range.
‘Louis told friends backstage that he is planning to compete with Becks and he is already talking to top-end designers,’ says a BBC mole.

A overhall of planning is needed, what is it do with the neighbours if she wants gates? Visualy intrusive? The dont own all views within a mile of their house, they have their own houses and thats it they shouldnt be able to decide what they want to see when they drive past her house. If it was a 18ft pink elephant then ok,its just dumb but these are gates, even if they are solid timber and 5mx2m how is that intrusive?
