Young bluegrass players from Calhoun, Ga., The Lovell Sisters demonstrate their devoted love of many styles of music on their last album, 2009's Time to Grow. Widely accepted at many music festivals — including Bonnaroo and Telluride — and at shows across North America and Europe, the Lovells released three albums: When Forever Rolls Around (2005), Live at the Philadelphia Folk Festival (2007) and Time to Grow.

The talented trio featured Jessica on fiddle, Megan on dobro and Rebecca on mandolin, with all three doing vocal duty. They performed their final concert together in January, but Rebecca and Megan Lovell continue as a duo in their new band, Larkin Poe.

In this set on Mountain Stage, The Lovell Sisters perform two songs from Time to Grow: "In My Time of Dyin' " and the title track, along with covers of "Teardrop," written by Cocteau Twins singer-songwriter Elizabeth Fraser, and "Bleeding Heart" by Jimi Hendrix.

This feature originally ran on June 22, 2009.
