Cream Ruffles & Black Leather (Fantasy Shopper Outfit)

Cream ruffles & black leather

Wow I seem to be into my black and white a bit lately, don't I... not like me at all! Plus patterned tights seem to be my thing at the moment too (black and white with patterned tights - just like my Christmas Day outfit. Oh dear). I bought the blouse with some vouchers courtesy of Joules Clothing with whom I did a giveaway in September - quite unlike my usual style, but it's soooo ladylike and smart, I just love it.

I actually wore this outfit last month to an event held by Fantasy Shopper - an extremely addictive online site that allows you to build a virtual dream wardrobe and share outfits with other users. Although it's effectively for fun, it's really creative and has links to the featured retailers' websites where you can buy the items for real (though that's probably a little dangerous where your bank account is concerned)!

Fantasy Shopper

They feature pretty much all the major brands you can think of - my favourites being Accessorize, Debenhams, Karen Millen, New Look, Reiss and Topshop (what can I say - I'm a high street girl!), but if you want to go true fantasy shopping/outfit creating there's brands like Harrods and Browns as well. What I like most about it is the fact that you can browse many retailers all in one place, rather than having to visit their websites one at a time... it would take all day to look at that many online shops.

So pay Fantasy Shopper a visit - and have a look out for outfits by yours truly (I might see you there)!

Happy Thursday everyone :)

Date Night Fur & A Statement Necklace

Faux fur and leather coat
Faux fur and leather coat
Arm candy and blue manicure
Faux fur and leather coat
Statement jewellery and fur
I wore this outfit to celebrate our wedding anniversary when we went out for sushi last week.... I have mixed feelings about this outfit however (hear me out)! I do love it for its sartorial merits, but on the other hand it reminds me of how much I ate and how full I was afterwards - to the point of feeling ill. It was my own fault, I know, but when all those tasty little dishes are going round on the conveyor belt and you keep seeing more and more that you want to try, then my eyes get seriously bigger than my belly.

Actually that's not true - the resulting food baby was mahoosive. The size of Wales in fact. Serves me right for being such a gannet ;)

But clothes-wise, I'm still in love with my new-this-winter fur/leather/tweed coat, and I do love the statement necklace under the floral shirt collar - together they make a basic, thrifted men's sweater look extra special. And I'm glad I wore stretchy pants.

Happy Tuesday everyone, hope you're all well!

Khaki, Florals & A Big Blue Snood

Khaki, florals & blue
Floral jeans & wedge sneakers
Black manicure
Khaki sweater & blue snood
I've gone all super-casual now that the party season is well and truly over. More suitable-for-the-weather kind of dressing...!

I'm actually quite surprised that I've worn the floral jeans after the summer - I think it's because I chose a floral with a dark background... they don't seem quite so summery when paired with sweatshirts and scarves and boots in the winter. And the wedge sneakers are actually my second pair I've bought; they are so comfy and give your leg that lift we love from heels. Can't say fairer than that!

Hope you're all having a great weekend so far. All over too quickly, isn't it...?

Getting Casual With A Raccoon On My Sweater

Raccoon sweater

Orange brogues
Birdcage necklace
After my last post and the Christmas Day outfit post where I was really dressed up, it's nice to get back to casual jeans and comfy sweaters. I bought this raccoon sweater from ASOS before Christmas, so I guess I've finally jumped on the animal-on-my-sweater bandwagon... I couldn't resist.

The birdcage necklace was a Christmas present from my sister - she had it bespoke made locally, it's soooo pretty I think. So two animals today.

I hope you're all easing yourselves into 2013 slowly? Thankfully Friday has come around really quickly: happy weekend everyone!

New Year's Eve Fancy Dress: Japanese Anime Girl

Fancy Dress: Japanese Anime Girl

Fancy Dress: Japanese Anime Girl
Fancy Dress: Japanese Anime Girl
If you follow me on Instagram you may well have seen what I wore on New Year's Eve - I decided to go Japanese anime this year! Whilst I am a big fancy dress fan, I haven't been to a fancy dress party since I started the blog, so it had to be something I thought you guys would like ;)

The idea simply came about because I was ordering a few bits from ASOS and for some reason decided to browse the wig section (I think I was thinking about the gorgeous bloggers Aminta and Frassy who are both wig fans) - I just added the pink ombre wig to the basket on a whim. I didn't have any intention of keeping it, I just wanted to try it on for fun... but I absolutely LOVED it. Then I found out my mum was hosting an impromptu fancy dress party for New Year - and an outfit instantly sprang to mind.

Apart from the wig and stockings (ordered off eBay), everything was stuff I had anyway. The dress has been seen on the blog here and here (although I tacked the hem up a bit to shorten it), and my mum had some tartan fabric which I cut into a strip to make the bow. My make up - mimicking the huge eyes of anime characters - was my best effort copied off "living" anime girl Anastasiya Shpagina - if you haven't seen this girl yet you should check her out. All at once beautiful but reeeeeally creepy.

I now just have to think of some way of incorporating this wig into my everyday attire...!

Just For Fun: 2012 Bloopers & Outtakes

Blooper
Happy New Year everyone!!!

For my first post of 2013 I thought I'd have a little recap of 2012 and share with you some of the more 'undesirable' photos we took, rather than the best...

Before I clear all the outtakes off my hard drive I've collected the best of the worst to post here for your (and my) amusement. In some I'm caught off guard, others I'm goofing around and some I have no explanation for whatsoever. So sit back and enjoy, and take delight in the fact that, contrary to what some of you say in your lovely comments, I really don't always look that good ;)

(You can click on the images to see the original posts)

Blooper
Beware: when the wind catches your blazer, you end up looking about ten sizes wider than you actually are.

Blooper
I was probably falling over in my heels here. Heels and fields don't mix.

Blooper
You end up with many outtakes when you're trying to create some sort of leaping pose. Most shots were unusable... this is just one example of how stupid you look when it goes wrong.

Blooper
Two fingers up to the photographer.

Blooper
I have no idea what I'm doing here, but I don't look happy. Also my legs look like they're made of rubber.

Blooper
Goofing about, probably wanting to go home.

Blooper
A classic example of having to change shoes from the ones I've worn at work (I sit at a desk all day so heels aren't a problem) to something I can walk in to where we take pictures (quite often up a country lane). So nice of Mr. Summers to capture me when I'm struggling with my sneakers.

Blooper
Probably messing about while camera settings are being changed, or I want to finish and go inside.

Blooper
Directing Mr. Summers, telling him what camera settings to use perhaps...? Or describing the size of something in great detail. Who knows.

Blooper
A classic case of a "spinning around" outtake where you end up with a shot of both feet turned in. Not particularly flattering.

Blooper
I think I was having some sort of fit here.

Blooper
Ahhh... another classic: pulling in the dress I was sent by a company that was too big. I had to get the photo done for the M&S style blogger challenge, but couldn't wait any longer for the smaller size to arrive in order to get my entry in on time. Bulldog clips to the rescue!

Blooper
I have no idea what I'm doing here... I think I was jumping and trying to look stylish. It didn't work.

Blooper
Wiping off the copious amounts of mud from my wellies (no, I hadn't stepped in something) after wading through muddy puddles.

Blooper
Trying to redo (or simply clip back) my hair from my face after the wind has blown it everywhere is a common occurrence. Car windows and the lens of the camera both make handy mirrors.

Blooper
This has to be my favourite of the lot - was it a bee that flew in my face? I'll never know, but it sure makes me laugh!

..........................................................................................................................................

So - proof that blogging is far from glamorous. Sometimes I'm amazed I look half decent in any photos at all - judging by this lot it's a good job I have a patient photographer (a.k.a. my husband) who's willing to take x number of shots...!

I'd like to wish everyone a very prosperous and happy 2013... make this year bring you everything you wish for :)))
