Audi TraditionDonau Classic 2011

The sixth edition of Audi Tradition's home event was held from June 16 – 18, and took the principal sponsor's classic cars on a three day tour of Ingolstadt and the surrounding area. Once again, various celebrities could be seen in the driver's seat, including Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG.

During Saturday's stage, Rupert Stadler took the wheel of a Wanderer W25 Cabriolet from 1936, while the previous day the Bavarian Minister of Social Affairs, Christine Haderthauer, also took part in the rally – in an NSU 1200 TT from 1971. A total of ten classic cars from Audi Tradition were involved in the event, all of which dated from more recent times, with the exception of the Wanderer W25 Cabriolet.

Largest vintage car rally in Bavaria
The Donau Classic has grown into the largest event of its type in Bavaria. It takes place over three days: on Thursday June 16, the mobile museum set out from Westpark in Ingolstadt, heading west as far as Rennertshofen for a tour of the Donaumoos Moor and Danube Valley. The first stage finished at the Audi Sportpark, the starting point for Friday's tour of the Altmühltal Valley and the Limes, the fortified Roman frontier. The route took the vintage cars through Dietfurt, Kipfenberg and Eichstätt and finally on to Treuchtlingen.

Finale at the Audi Forum Ingolstadt
The first participants reached the Audi Forum Ingolstadt late Friday afternoon. The final stage set off from here the next day: the tour of the hop-growing region passed through Kelheim, Bad Gögging, Mainburg and Pfaffenhofen, before returning to the Audi Forum Ingolstadt, where the sixth Donau Classic came to a rousing conclusion.
