2Preach the word; be
instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with
all long suffering and doctrine.
3For
the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine;
but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves
teachers, having itching ears;
4And
they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be
turned unto fables.
1 Timothy 4:1
1Now the Spirit speaketh expressly,
that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith,
giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
1 Cor. 10:21
21Ye cannot drink the cup of
the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the
Lord's table, and of the table of devils.
1 John 4:1-3
1Beloved,
believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are
of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
2Hereby
know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that
Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3And
every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in
the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist,
whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already
is it in the world.
2 Cor. 11:2-4
2For I am jealous over you
with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband,
that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
3But
I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through
his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the
simplicity that is in Christ.
4For
if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not
preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not
received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye
might well bear with him.
Galatians 1:6-10
6I
marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you
into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7Which
is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would
pervert the gospel of Christ.
8But
though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel
unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be
accursed.
9As
we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any
other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be
accursed.
10For
do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for
if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
Will you be
a watchman?
Ezekiel 33:7 So
thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel;
therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.
I understand completely that Jesus is the author
and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2) but in His Word He does warn us of the many
dangers that we face as we walk with Him (Matthew 24:4-5). The Apostle Paul also warns us
of dangers that face us from within the church itself and how often
there will be other spirits trying to seduce us away from our
relationship with the real Jesus Christ to follow after another Christ
or other spirits seeming to be the Holy Spirit. (2 Corinthians 11:2-4)
In Christ Jesus we are individually
responsible to test the spirits to see if they be of God (1 John
4:1-3) and to test all teachings against the Word of God (Acts 17:11). With a multitude of teachers today the tendency is to allow
anything and everything to come through the doors with very little attempt to discern
the truth. We are all called to guard, to watch and to warn those within the church, of the dangers of
the leaven of false teaching, seducing spirits, doctrines of demons,
destructive heresies and
the philosophies of men. It is not my responsibility or intent to tell
another believers what they must believe but it is my desire to provide
information that may help others to make their own decisions in their
walk with Christ Jesus.
Steven Mitchell writes in his article
Watchman
Arise,
"Since God mentions this ministry
several times throughout the Bible with great clarity, we do well to
read, heed, and learn to be men and women with this attitude for the
church today. While we may not be under the threat of physical invasion
today, or living in literal walled fortresses, Satan and his workers
seek to destroy and lay siege to the church today through false teachers
and ungodly philosophies. He seeks to lead us into false forms of
worship and unbiblical teachings that masquerade as truth. He has
engineered and orchestrated a full-out assault on the people of God
today, complete with deceptive false ministers and non-prophets who no
longer view His Word as the primary basis for true doctrine. The church
is definitely under attack and, therefore, definitely and desperately in
need of watchmen in this age."

"A debate is a
conflict which clarifies a position. A dialogue is a conversation
which compromises a position."
(The New Neutralism II, John

"Truth becomes the
sacrifice:
When absolutism is out, and relativism is in;
When obedience is out, and pragmatism is in;
When teaching is out, and dialogue is in;
When thus saith the Lord is out, and consensus of opinion is in;
When using Scripture to judge right and wrong is out, and unity with
tolerance at all costs is in;
When the narrow way is out, and the broad way is in."

Altar of Unity)
