    Cyber Monday grabs.

    Dear GS Homeslices,

I hope everyone's Turkey Day went well. Mine was pretty good. Still got left-overs in the fridge.

Since GS' new formatting system is on the fritz...again, I'll keep this brief.

    Steam:

Crapload of dlc for Dungeon Defenders ($10), finally have all of the Eternia Shards missions!

Deus Ex Human Revolution ($11), a damn good prequel to one of my all-time fav first-person RPGs.

Torchlight II ($10), I know, eventually a DRM-free version will be on GOG. When Runic finally gets around to it -I'll opt for that version.

Borderlands...gifted to me by N-E-Me! For which I am eternally grateful.

    GOG:

Symphony ($10), awesome vertical shooter meets rhythm game. It actually scans your MP3s and uses them as background music. Blasting neon-lit ships to "Tank" by Yokko Kanno & the Seatbelts is awesome.

Street Fighter Alpha 2 ($6), PC port of one of my all-time fav 2D fighters. There are some gripes about 360 gamepad support. But, I use a Logitech F310 which supports both Direct Input and Xinput (360). With Direct Input, SFA2 automaps to the old PS1 layout.

    Well, gotta bounce.

Take Care & Enjoy the Awesomeness!

    Recent Shinanigans.

    Dear GS Homeslices,

I hope all is well with most of you. I've been doing fine. If you live in the north-eastern United States, my heart goes out to you and your loved ones.

My internship has been going pretty smoothly. Occassional issues between guests where I counsel, but nothing major. Tuesdays thru Thursdays, I hang out in the rec area and yap with people, getting to understand their situations and such. On Saturdays, I work in the kitchen prepping dinner and working with those who are in rehabilitation pragrams or doing their Community Service. Aside from a few grating personalities, which I intentionally avoid, it's a pretty likable crowd.

On the gaming front, I've been hitting up sales on GOG, Steam and Gamersgate quite a bit of late.

    GOG:

Flatout ($3), a destruction derby racer with full USB gamepad support. There's also a PS2 port of Flatout.

Hotline Miami ($8), take a 1980s slasher flick and give it 8bit graphics and stealth elements...wahlah!

    Steam:

Left 4 Dead ($5), you already know about this zombie survival game on meth.

Zombie Shooter ($1), replace Alien Shooter's aliens with zombies. Not bad at only $1 and with rock bottom system requirements.

Dungeon Defenders ($3.70), OMFG! A steal at its sales price. I also grabbed a bunch of dlc for DD at $2.50. I plan to get all of it eventually.

Gamersgate (quickly becoming my fav other DRM-free PC gaming site) all DRM-free:

Painkiller Overdose ($1.50), Serious Sam-ish FPS with a very dark tone and modest hardware requirements.

Recettear An Item Shop's Tale ($10), decent dungeon crawling with a charming visual style (similar to Ys OiF) and addictive "bargaining" system.

Project Black Sun ($2 regular price!), a damn good 2D Metroidvania-ish action platformer. Low hardware requirements (netbook friendly), full USB gamepad support...and tough as nails.

In the review section on Gamersgate, some PC gaming elitsist twit griped about Project Black Sun "not have mouse & keyboard support". What is he/she? ____ing stupid? Certain genres simply play better with gamepads! Live with it, you elitist prik!

FPSes, 3rd person action games, RTSes...those are best played with mouse & keyboard. But 2D platformers, fighting games, racers and 2D action games are best played with a gamepad. If PC gamers want more genres on their platform of choice, they're gonna have to check that elitist s___ at the door. I made this same analysis in my review of Guilty Gear X2 #Reload.

Well, I gotta bounce. Homework's outta the way and I gotta get back to getting my ass kicked on Project Black Sun.

Take Care & Enjoy the Haul
