The fashion-mad singer says: 'My style is inspired by my mood. This collection will definitely have a range of different moods, different attitudes because I'm assuming my fans will be the same way.'

The collection goes on sale on March 5th and will be unveiled at London Fashion Week with a full catwalk show and after party.

The designs seen in the film include swimwear, striped tops with plunging backs, jumpsuits and a floor-length black dress with sheer panelling and Rihanna says that the clothes have been created for sassy young women.

She says: 'The collection is casual, it's chic, it's flirty ... I wanted all types of girls to be able to wear this and feel comfortable but edgy,

'I wanted there to be character within the clothes, but without it trying too hard. It's just simple.'

Before now the streetwear-inspired collection has mostly been kept under wraps.

The Barbados-born singer has dropped several stylish hints via her social networking sites, including a snap from the campaign shoot in LA.

The star was also spotted out in a navy all-in-one from the collection in December.

River Island have also been sharing snippets with their shoppers via their company blog, including an insight in to the campaign shoot directed by Rihanna.

According to the Style Insider blog about the shoot in early December: 'Rihanna joined us at Milk Studios in LA to direct her first ad campaign and our first Rihanna for River Island range.

'Models including Jourdan Dunn, Bambi Northwood-Blyth and Ataui Deng hit the set for the shoot in looks styled by the inimitable, Mel Ottenberg. Rihanna’s design partner for the collection,

'Adam Selman (Rihanna's co-designer on the collection), was also on hand to make sure the pieces he created with Ri Ri looked perfect on the girls.

'Ever the multi-tasker, Rihanna was juggling styling with Mel and directing the look and feel of the campaign shots. She even managed to squeeze in a quick chop from her hair hero, Yusef Williams, who we met on the 777 tour.

'The two day shoot came to a head with an obligatory bit of Instagram action from Ri Ri. She posted a shot of the models off duty once the campaign had wrapped for the day. We can’t wait to show you the models ON duty though. Bring on the spring!'

Speaking about the London Fashion Week show the singer said:  'Launching at London Fashion Week is a dream come true for me. I have wanted to design my own collection for a long time and to present my collection for River Island alongside all of the other great design talent at LFW is a real privilege. I can’t wait to see the reaction from my fans and the fashion press!'

River island is terrible, everything I have ever bought from that shop is made with cheap fabric, terrible stitching and drops to bits in the first wash and deteriorates. I hope that's what will happen with your career you radio hogging bore!

Rihanna needs to focus more on her performance skills than fashion. That should come second.

I though Ms RiRi's 'style' as to wear as little as possible? She doesn't love fashion, she loves getting her kit off.

She looks stoned in the pic with the Kenai hat on!

I love River Island, I don't love Rihanna's dress sense or lifestyle choices or music for that matter. Will be avoiding River Island for the foreseeable.
