Now that her Broadway show has been cancelled, she has plenty of time to focus on other projects - such as her fashion line.

But it seems Katie Holmes won’t get the chance to show off her latest collection at Fashion Week in February.

According to Women’s Wear Daily, the actress-turned-designer will be missing out on what would be an amazing promotion next month, although it is not clear why.

The publication reported on Tuesday: ‘Katie Holmes will be sitting out next month’s New York Fashion Week.’

So it’s no surprise she wasn’t looking her happiest as she stepped out in the Big Apple that day, trying to force a smile.

The brunette was seen walking to the Greenwich Hotel in the trendy TiBeCa area and attempted to go under the radar as she entered the building.

Katie wore blue jeans with random patchwork and a shirt underneath a green coat with sheepskin lining.

She teamed it with a chunky grey scarf, beige heels and a black handbag, half smiling with her head down as she walked into the accommodation.

The mother of ex-husband Tom Cruise’s six-year-old daughter Suri will have more time to spend with her little girl when she is not developing her style collection.

Her fashion label Holmes & Yang – which she co-designs with her stylist Jeanne Yang - made its New York Fashion Week debut last season but to mixed reviews.

After her play Dead Accounts stopped being staged, she signed on as the face and co-owner of Alterna Haircare.

The former Dawson’ Creek star will pose for Alterna's print campaign and contribute to the company's ‘product and initiatives’ as well as having a financial stake in the company as a co-owner.

She has no fashion "sense" at all. She always looks so bedraggled and appears to have no self-confidence. Too bad she looks so lonely. Her play is finished, her clothes line is possibly finished, her marriage is finished. What's left for her? Sad in a way.

She'd be great on TV as we all know

She doesn't look sombre! She's smiling and looking down where she's stepping - probably to avoid the cockroaches that have cameras stuck in her face all the time.

I do like Katie, but we have all seen how she dresses herself and I sure as heck would not pay her to dress me. No big surprise here.

She looks like she's trying to ignore the cameras without looking glum, angry or put upon. I highly doubt that she's hanging her head in shame over her fashion line. She always looks like she's trying to ignore the cameras but not look unhappy. I call it "polite" in the face of camera stalking.

Does anybody actually believe she does any of the designing? I think she was probably providing the money and opinions as opposed to doing any of the artistic work. Luckily now that she is the face of a hair care line her hair is looking much better. Most of the time.
