You can’t fail to be impressed by a band that sound like Battles recording a soundtrack for a Street Fighter video game. Gallops like synths that buzz, guitars that groove and drumbeats that befuddle. The problem is that for every act in this scene that’s as awesome as, say, Three Trapped Tigers, there’s a dozen like Gallops – experimental, aggressive, and a bit underwhelming. Admittedly ‘Crutches’ is a pretty spectacular 11-minute onslaught, but too much of ‘Yours Sincerely, Dr Hardcore’, is ambitious without being inventive. Gallops are incredible musicians, but they simply aren’t that original.

True, Gallops sound may not be all that original, but I think it's safe to say they are one of the few of their breed that actually do it right. To deny giving this album even three stars just because other groups within the genre fail to hit the mark is absurd. Equally absurd would be the idea that "Yours Sincerely, Dr Hardcore" does not stand out with it's delivery and quality.
