Minnesota Beatle Project Vol. 3 is the new album in the critically acclaimed Minnesota Beatle Project series produced by Minnesota-based 501c3 charitable organization Vega Productions. The album features musicians born or based in Minnesota, including well known international touring bands: Tapes ‘n Tapes, Cloud Cult, Charlie Parr, Motion City Soundtrack, Solid Gold and The Honeydogs, along with rising stars like the 4onthefloor, Dark Dark Dark and Red Pens.

Georgia's late songwriting hero Vic Chesnutt made a lot of friends in the Twin Cities music scene early in his career, going back to his debut at the Uptown Bar when Soul Asylum's Danny Murphy introduced him by brazenly telling the crowd to, “shut up and listen”. Right up to the end, Chesnutt had a large contingent of fans among our songwriters-over-singers-loving scene. That much is proven by the impressive turnout for the much buzzed about compilation features Vic Chesnutt classics performed by Dan Wilson, Haley Bonar, Trampled by Turtles' Dave Simonett, Charlie Parr, Ben Weaver, Wendy Lewis, JoAnna James, Alpha Consumer, Luke Redfield and more. - Rock the Cause

This is not a tribute album as such, but an opportunity for some of our favourite performers of the present day folk and alt-folk scenes to reinterpret the songs in their own style. The album features tracks from the Unthanks, Jon Boden, Pamela Wyn Shannon, Trembling Bells, Jackie Oates, Emily Portman, Tim Eriksen, Olivia Chaney, The Owl Service, Cath & Phil Tyler, Elle Osborne, Lisa Knapp, Fay Hield, Charlie Parr, Sam Lee and Rapunzel and Sedayne. - Folk Police Recordings

This May 24th Dylan turns 70. The influence of northern Minnesota on his life and music, particularly in his early ears, is obvious and strong. He wrote poetry and songs about Duluth and Hibbing, and others that were influenced by being raised here. In recent years there has been a resurgence of northland intrest in his life and music. I've played many songs on my radio show Highway 61 Revisited that demonstrate his influence on the area, and the influence that Duluth and Hibbing had on him. His quote during a concert in Duluth on July 3rd, 1999 says it all: "I was born up on that hill there. I'm glad to see it's still there."

Each year we choose the best performances from your favorite artists, recorded live in The Current studios, and compile them into one amazing, limited-edition album. This recording features the best performances gathered from live broadcasts of The Local Show. - The Current

Music in the Zoo CD features live recordings from the 2008 Subway Music in the Zoo Series. Proceeds benefit The Minnesota Zoo Conservation Programs.

Honest Jon’s took a 20-song mix of classical string music -- performed by artists about whom we know nothing other than their names -- and circulated it to some of the most amazing modern purveyors of string music from the West. With no real provisions, Honest Jon’s simply asked the artists to listen to the disc and craft a musical response. Truly an experiment, the results are disparate, beautiful, and thought-provoking.

"Much like the rock from which that hill is formed, Bob Dylan's body of art (carved out over the last 45 years) has been a solid touchstone for us to mark the days and the decades. It's with pride that we keep his music in the air on radio, in "live" studio performances, and at concerts, clubs and bars. And as Bob Dylan turns 65 years (forever) young, it's with hometown pride that this record came together: With artists from Duluth paying tribute to our favorite native son and one of America's greatest living artists."
- John Bushey
host of KUMD's radio show "Highway 61 Revisited"

We love animals and want to do what we can to ease their suffering at the hands of careless people. That's why we put together this compilation - it benefits two independent animal charities, Whitehall Dog Rescue and Leeds Animal Rescue Centre. All songs on the CD are exclusive and have been kindly donated by artists. Every penny of profits from this CD are being donated and so far we have be able to raise nearly 1,500!

Spinout Records invited folks from the Cuyuna, Mesabi and Gogebic Iron Range areas to help record a new compilation called Iron Country. Over the past year, pickers and grinners from the region congregated at Sacred Heart Studio. Located in a de-sanctified cathedral in the iron-shipping hub of Duluth, inspiration was drawn from the studio's view of ships arriving and departing the oar docks that line the harbor on Lake Superior.
