Opera 12.14 fixing bad crasher

Hey guys
We just released 12.14 final to our servers.
This fixes the autoupdate crash loop in 12.13 that would occur under certain circumstances. Unfortunately we did not catch this bug earlier, but we managed to narrow it down thanks to your feedback.
This is not the same build as yesterday's RC, but there are no code changes. We just had to rebuild to make sure Browser JS was included in the package.

We also was able to sneak in a fix for a crash that several users are reporting on hulu.com

We would like to thank you all for your testing and feedback.
Now please be gentle ;-)

12.14 RC crashloop fix

the opera.com/oops new message seems wrong guys :

For some people, Opera 12.13 has been unstable.
Until we solve the problem, we recommend you upgrade to version 12.14.

other than that, thanks for the "quick fix"

For the past few weeks, Opera started having some significant rendering issues on popular sites like ebay.com, google.com, and Engadget.com. I'm running the latest Opera 64bit on Windows 8 Pro. Are these rendering issues (columns being populated as rows, poor spacing, overlapping fonts etc.) going to be fixed?

EricJH Tuesday, February 5, 2013 5:04:31 PM

Thanks for a quick fix. coffee

mytoast Tuesday, February 5, 2013 5:05:31 PM

Don't know why but Opera immediately crashes when I want to log in to Facebook. I can't send any Bug-Report. I had the same problem with one of the previous Builds (don't remember which one) :-/

*Edit*: It seems that the problem only occurs when using autologin (opera password manager)

Markue, The page works fine for me (64 bit Linux Debian), but it is slow if I leave and come back to the tab. How much memory does your computer have?

CryioAcryion Tuesday, February 5, 2013 5:36:12 PM

Devs, now you have my permission to let us enjoy this version for a few months untill the new major version 12.2 comes out.

I'm joking about the permission, but seriously, lead on!

Danieledarklink88 Tuesday, February 5, 2013 5:36:37 PM

Great! now give us Opera 13 alpha! bigsmile

highstream Tuesday, February 5, 2013 5:38:38 PM

olli, thanks for letting us know that the release is different than the RC. Much appreciated.

One odd thing: on two overwrite installs, one with the main x64 download, the other with the Next link, upon initial (auto) opening to Yahoo's home page it ignored the AdBlock extension and showed ads. Refreshing solved it both time, but I hadn't seen that happen before on my desktop.

CryioAcryion Tuesday, February 5, 2013 5:39:11 PM

Olli, maybe I can expect some time in the future the ironing of a pet bug?

DSK-381869 . More details here http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=1616342 . Already recieved confirmation from one of the mods bigsmile

s/ashslash4real Tuesday, February 5, 2013 5:46:45 PM

Updated, works great so far. cheers

PS: Really enjoyed Opera Turbo today as I had to browse the internet over a 3G connection with weak signal.

Though, a problem: after update, my Google serach engine disappeared and now Bing is my default. confused Can somebody confirm this?

LE: Couldn't reproduce the bug on my test/portable installation. Something must be wrong in this universe.. Good that I have a backup of my Opera folders.

ybouche Tuesday, February 5, 2013 6:03:03 PM

Hello everyone,
I just want to signal a problem that has appeared for me since 12.13 : I get a "this video is unavailable" message when I call a video or clip on Youtube THROUGH Google+. The same video would launch perfectly in the same case in another browser - tested with Firefox.
I'm sure you will fix it soon. I love Opera!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Apoligies to the Opera people!
I have downgraded my Opera to 12.12 and found the problem remains. So it seems the issue would rather be on G+ side... in relation with Opera.
So I have installed 12.14 again and will just wait and see.

Hahaha. Well, Opera will need a good PR-Team, to sell crashes as innovations. Intended or not wink

So, having fixed the 32bit version from the crashes, what about the massive problems (slow, unresponsive) with the 64bit version?

Marcodsp418 Tuesday, February 5, 2013 6:49:05 PM

Thank you for the update. Despite Opera has bugs I believe devs deserve all the respect for keep working on it so hard.

Said that, I hope you guys will soon fix a hardware bug bigsmile
It happens that to see smooth fonts hardware acceleration needs to be on, at that point flash movie title descriptions (i.e. for embedded flashes) look aliased.

On top of that, a more serious bug appears with h.a. on: cannot print PDF pages properly, all the text appears as courier and overlap, i.e. PDF are unusable. Hope you guys will fix this soon.

In return can we ask for little more feedback on this forum?

Other than that keep the good stuff coming.

that facebook thingie again...
if I right-click on FB image, there is no usual image popoup menu. Instead of it, there is page right-click menu.

I'm sure it is regression from last build

The 32 bit RC version o 12.14 used only ~700 MB of RAM on my Win7. After the update it uses more than 1.2 GB of RAM...

Try to look it at bottom of your search list.
I think that you use Opera Link also.

Opera reset my Spdy settings (enable it)! Try understand, my browser is FASTER, less buggy without spdy enabled.

Didn't notice that with this build. Really.

... and it survived some quite evil and massive sites during my tests.

Mimis Mum (MM)mimi_s_mum Tuesday, February 5, 2013 7:53:33 PM

. We just had to rebuild to make sure Browser JS was included in the package.

Does this mean you've fixed "'Do not check for updates' setting is not respected when manually updating user javascript" bug?

You know the drill. If a site is unusable, make a new thread PER site on the forum and ask confirmations from others. If multiple users (on different platforms or not) confirm the problems, file reports for each site.

Confirmed by the way! For both of them.
