Diane Kruger must have been the most conflicted football fan in the world on Wednesday night.

The beautiful actress was overjoyed to see her home country Germany beat her current country of residence France for the first time in 26 years.

The 36-year-old actress was literally jumping for joy as she watched Die Mannschaft beat Les Blues with a 2-1 victory.

Diane was born and raised in Algermissen, Germany, but moved to Paris as a teenager to pursue a career as a model.

The Troy star was clearly enjoying the game at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, and even wore a special commemorative match-day scarf to mark the occasion.

She was joined by her long term boyfriend actor Joshua Jackson who was wrapped warm for the sporting event.

Joshua, 34, wore a thick parka and maintained a low key appearance throughout the match while his partner was much more exuberant.

As Germany scored their second goal, Diane leapt to her feet and screamed with joy.

Joshua may not be as familiar with football due to the fact that America doesn't have a very good soccer team.

Luckily his girl was on hand to explain the intricacies of the game as the drama unravelled on the pitch.

Diane has up until now been taking time out ahead of her next movie release, but she looks set for a busier few months.

The actress is one of the big name stars of The Host, which is released in March and is the latest adaptation of a novel by Twilight author Stephanie Meyer.

I'm pretty sure Australians call something soccer. I think they use soccer to differentiate between Aussie rules football and soccer.

Jawohl, endlich Gewinner! After decades of trying to beat the French...funny though, all of a sudden she's German again.

Fortuna: Yes, "football" is called "soccer" in Canada. "Football" is for "American football". Probably the only two countries in the world who don't call it "Football" (including translations in other languages, which all sound similar) And yes, Joshua Jackson is Canadian (born in Vancouver) but his father is American so it's fair to assume that he has dual citizenship.

"Soccer" is one of the most played sports in the US. And their soccer team is pretty good, regularly making the quarters of World cup. And I may be wrong, but I always though Josh was Canadian.

She's got the whole package: beauty, artistic talent and a flair for languages. Wonder if she can cook to a michelin standard...?

Joshua Jackson is Canadian, not American, and we do know the rules of soccer. - Asiaoh , Toronto, Canada, 07/2/2013 16:07 Do you call football 'soccer' in Canada? PS DM, I'm pretty sure there's a Gallic Rooster on her scarf... And people around her are supporting France. So she must be celebrating the only goal by Les Bleus. Well done, Germany, if you ask me.

Yes, ha ha DM, Americans as a group aren't as interested in football as the rest of the world. But some of us do in fact follow it, regardless of whether or not our national team is good. And for the record, our women's national team is awesome.
