Let's be clear about one thing. A muffin is never going to be genuinely 'skinny', even if Greggs label it as such. But if you are attempting to cut back on calories and you're finding it hard to resist sweet treats, you may just as well scoff a slimline muffin than a full fat jobbie. Try the blueberry version, 85p from Greggs. There's 300 calories (this ain't a weight loss cake...) but only 3.1g of fat, which is pretty darn low for a muffin, which would usually pack more like 10 to 15g. If you genuinely are on a diet, eat it - then hit the gym.

The bakers are now urging people to 'use their loaf' and up their intake by starting the day with their Toastie Half & Half bread. Each slice of Half & Half contains 2.2g of fibre, which is 9 per cent of an adult's daily intake. As it's name suggests, the loaf is made half with wholemeal and half white flour but promises to be full on flavour.

They also use carob powder as well as cocoa powder because it has a similar taste but a third of the calories, while sugar has been minimised in favour of the low GI sweetener agave.

I don’t trust meat from the supermarket now. Supermarket bosses should give suppliers a fair price for their products to ensure this doesn’t happen again.
