Nigeria dominated the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations Team of the Tournament, making up almost half of the 11 players selected.

The Super Eagles won their third title by beating Burkina Faso 1-0 in the Final at Soccer City last night, but there is no room in the tournament’s best XI for the scorer, Sunday Mba.

Instead, his strike-partner and top scorer Emmanuel Emenike got the nod, alongside Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan.

Victor Moses, John Obi Mikel, Efe Ambrose and Enyeama make the up the Nigeria contingent, while Burkina Faso have two representatives in Bakary Kone and Player of the Tournament Jonathan Pitroipa.

Ghana, who finished third, also have Wakaso Mubarak in the side, while Cape Verde (Nando Maria Neves) and Mali (Seydou Keita) have one each.

Jonathan Pitroipa (Burkina Faso)
Wakaso Mubarak (Ghana)

There was a noise about 7 players selected from a certain team to represent a certain national team. I thought some of those players would appear here as we were told they were the best

Over rated SA players are not included. Until chiefs reach at least group stages of our african champions league. otherwise Bafana are going nowhere. As big team of SA they should take lead and the rest will follow.

I remember reading in SoccerLaduma that chiefs were expecting to lose 7/8 players by the end of this tournament. I wonder where it went wrong. Anyway, after watching most og these games I can only say that as far as picking out players and ball distribution by a goalkeeper khune stands hands and shoulders above the rest. If only he could better what he is employed for which is keeping balls out of the net he could have easily been in this list of players.
