We will begin reviewing completed applications in late September (Early Decision) / late January (Regular Decision) and we will begin releasing decisions by late December (Early Decision) and late May (Regular Decision). All applications are reviewed using the same guidelines. We continue to urge students to submit application materials early for the benefit of receiving a decision quickly. Decisions will include admit, defer, and deny. Students who are deferred will receive a final decision by late May.

The primary goal of implementing an Early Decision program is to give students a guaranteed decision date. For students who have European Graduate School as one of their top-choice graduate schools, a decision of admit, defer, or deny before the end of December allows them to plan accordingly.

In their admittance letter successful applicants will receive detailed registration and enrollment information, the payment deadline for the tuition fees will be specified and our bank account details along with a description of the course structure will be provided. The payment deadline for the first installment of at least half of the tuition is generally two weeks after admission to European Graduate School.

With each payment submitted to us, students must clearly indicate the name and the student ID number so that we can allocate the tuition fees. A foreign money transfer takes approx. 8-10 working days. We cannot confirm receipt of any payment until the amount is credited to our account - as soon as the payment is credited to our account students will receive a final confirmation by e-mail.

Participants from countries with visa requirements for Switzerland can request to receive a confirmation of payment and a letter of enrollment by regular mail. These documents are to be presented when applying for a visa, and serve as the "invitation". No "invitations" are issued by the European Graduate School.

Transcripts:

Official transcripts from all colleges, professional schools, and universities (including European Graduate School EGS) are required. The Registrar should seal the transcript in an envelope, sign across the seal, and return it to you. Do not open these envelopes or break the seals. Universities may not wish to send official copies via an applicant. If this is the case, please have official transcripts sent directly to:

Office of Admissions and Financial Aid, European Graduate School EGS, Alter Kehr 20, CH - 3953 Leuk-Stadt, Switzerland, Tel. +41 27 474 9917, Fax +41 27 474 9969, Email: admissions(at)egs.edu

Applicants who are currently in school must submit the most recent transcript. A supplementary transcript of your final semester should be sent as soon as possible. All documents not issued in English must be accompanied by certified English translations.

Letters of Evaluation (Optional):

Although not required, we recommend to submit three letters of evaluation. If possible, at least one of these should be from members of the academic profession who are able to state from personal knowledge your qualifications for graduate study and, if possible, your skills for fellowship/scholarship grants. Other letters may be from your employer, supervisor, or work associate. Letters sent directly by an academic placement office are acceptable. The letter of evaluation should be sealed with the evaluator’s signature on the reverse side and sent to:

Office of Admissions and Financial Aid, European Graduate School EGS, Alter Kehr 20, CH - 3953 Leuk-Stadt, Switzerland, Tel. +41 27 474 9917, Fax +41 27 474 9969, Email: admissions(at)egs.edu

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL):

The language of instruction at European Graduate School is English. It is recommended, that any candidate who earned a bachelor’s degree (or the international equivalent) from a country in which English is not the native language of instruction submits the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores. The TOEFL® test measures the ability to to read, listen, speak and write in English in colleges and universities; accepted by many institutions in more than 130 countries, it is the most widely accepted English-language test in the world. The TOEFL test can be taken as the Internet-based Test (iBT) or as the Paper-based Test (PBT), depending on which format is offered at your test center.

Graduate-level study in an English-speaking country can be substituted for the TOEFL requirement. International students who received their bachelor’s degree from an English-language four-year college or university are not required to submit TOEFL or ALP scores. The examination is administered by the Educational Testing Service, ETS Corporate Headquarters, Rosedale Road, Princeton, NJ 08541 USA, Phone: 1-609-921-9000, FAX: 1-609-734-5410.

Financial Aid:

Your eligibility for student loans depends on your country of origin. For United States citizen and permanent residents, however, it is possible to obtain loans for the full cost of attendance, including books, travel, and room and board. The US Department of Education school code (G35183) makes subsidized and unsubsidized government loans available; and additionally, permits students with outstanding loans to defer payment while studying at European Graduate School EGS. For more information, visit The EGS Scholarship and Financial Aid Information section or email financial.aid(at)egs.edu.

U.S. citizens and permanent residents are eligible to apply for U.S. federal student financial aid. Interested applicants should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 15. The FAFSA form is available at high schools, colleges, and libraries across the country, and via the Web at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/, or from the Financial Aid Office, European Graduate School EGS, Alter Kehr 20, CH - 3953 Leuk-Stadt, Switzerland, Tel. +41 27 474 9917, Fax +41 27 474 9969, Email: financial.aid(at)egs.edu, beginning in late December.

Federal aid options include Stafford and Perkins loans and the Federal Work-Study program. Many states will also provide financial aid to eligible residents, such as the New York State Tuition Assistance Program. Interested students should contact their state financial aid programs for information. Private educational financing options are available for both domestic and international students. Information on these programs will be available after April 15 and will be sent to you with your financial aid packet.

It is important to note that the European Graduate School's US Student Loan's approval extends only to the EGS's degree programs in the Media and Communication Division. Since the Institution did not include the Arts, Health and Society Division or its certificate and diploma programs in its current application, these programs are not eligible. Therefore, the European Graduate School does not have the authority to obligate funds under the FFEL Program for current or new U.S. students enrolled in the Arts, Health and Society Division or its certificate and diploma programs.

Non-US students should check with the education department in their home country for more information.
