Carr and Rose in the running for BAE Systems chairman's job
|
Defence and aerospace giant BAE Systems has approached two City grandees, Sir Roger Carr and Sir John Rose, about becoming the group’s next chairman.
The company, which continues to fly solo after its failed attempt last year to merge with Franco-German giant EADS, needs to replace incumbent Dick Olver, who is due to leave next year.
Shareholders including Invesco, which owns 13 per cent, want Olver to go early following the failed EADS deal.

They want someone to give BAE strategic direction as the company battles declining global defence budgets in Britain and America.
Carr chairs British Gas-owner Centrica and is president of the CBI. He is seen as a safe pair of hands.
Rose, the deputy chairman of Rothschild, spent 15 years running engine-maker Rolls-Royce but has never chaired a FTSE 100 company.
