Ashanti goes overkill in garish black and white patterned outfit... as she reveals her bra in see-through top

Ashanti is known for having an adventurous sense of style, but this Ferragamo outfit may have crossed the line.

The 32-year-old singer-songwriter donned a see-through, black-and-white striped top to appear on MTV in New York City's Times Square on Monday.

Sporting a dark-coloured bra under her midriff-baring top, she didn't leave everything to imagination.

Yet, the sheer fabric wasn't the only part of her ensemble that pushed fashion boundaries.

Ashanti tried to match her shirt with hip-hugging pants made from a loose-fitting fabric.

But they appeared a bit overwhelming and hard on the eyes, featuring contrasting patterns of checks and stripes.

And her lace-up checkered booties only added to the craziness of the Foolish singer's outfit.

Staring at all of her pieces combined creates a bit of a dizzy effect, instead of flattering the star's curvy figure.

Her make-up was another extreme touch.

Though accentuating her full lips, the bright pink lipstick didn't stay on her mouth.

As she smiled for the cameras, it was noticeable that some had smeared onto her pearly whites.

But that didn't stop the John Tucker Must Die actress from remaining in high spirits, grinning and giggling on her way to the studio, carrying two cell phones and what looks like a hand candy.
