Patrice Evra is set to be offered a 12-month contract extension at Manchester United.

The left-back has been in outstanding form this season, and his current deal expires at the end of next season.

Evra has scored more goals this season - netting four times - than his entire previous United career.

His deal is currently worth around £85,000 a week, and he is expected to start in United's vital Champions League tie with Real Madrid tonight.

United are keen to extend the 31-year-old's spell at Old Trafford and keep him out of the clutches of a host of clubs eager for the Frenchman's signature, including Paris St Germain.

PSG, managed by Carlo Ancelotti, were linked with Evra in the January transfer window with a rumoured £5million deal on the table.

Evra was a PSG supporter as a youngster, and was released from the France league leaders, current employers of former United midfielder David Beckham, as a youth player in 1998.

United also want to insert a 12-month rolling review into the extension, in line with other veterans at the club.
