He was proud as punch when he took delivery of his $900,000 custom car.

So hopefully will.i.am wasn't speaking to the AAA's breakdown service when he made a phone call in Los Angeles on Monday.

The former Black Eyed Pea looked less than happy as he chatted on his mobile after pulling over in the street.

It has been just a couple of weeks since will.i.am, real name William, took delivery of his sleek new machine.

The purple car was designed piece-by-piece by West Coast Customs, best know as the mechanics from from cringeworthy MTV show Pimp My Ride.

The outlandish vehicle was outfitted with an aluminum interior, aluminum dashboard and door panels.

The final touch on this fully-loaded car were the bucket seats, made for high speed driving.

The producer and singer is a noted car fanatic, known for his willingness to pay enormous sums for his automobile passion.

And the new purple monster is not the only high-priced item in his garage.

He owns another futuristic custom model, a white coupe with Delorean-esque side doors, reported to cost somewhere around $700 thousand.

However he has some way to go before he has a collection to rival the grandaddy of celebrity car connoisseurs Jay Leno.

The chinny chat show host owns around 190 vehicles, and among his collection are two Doble steam cars, a sedan and a roadster that was owned by Howard Hughes.

I wonder what he'll do now. Can't see anybody willing to take it on trade in. But wait a mo - he could probably get a hundred quid for it as scrap.
