Sofia Vergara may have a Modern Family of her own in the making.
The National Enquirer reports the actress, 40, and her fiancé Nick Loeb are expecting a baby via surrogate.
The Colombian star has a son Manolo, 20, from her first marriage to her teenage sweetheart, Joe Gonzalez.
A Modern Family: Sofia Vergara, pictured in Beverly Hills on Tuesday, is reportedly expecting a baby via a surrogate
It has been reported that Sofia chose one of her closest friends to act as a surrogate.
‘Rather than going through the trying process of hiring a stranger to serve as a surrogate, Sofia hand-picked one of her healthiest and closest friends,’ a source told The National Enquirer.
However the publication alleges that Sofia’s hopes were almost dashed when the surrogate was rushed to hospital late last month after suffering symptoms of a miscarriage.

Scare: Sofia and fiance Nick Loeb are seen leaving BOA Steakhouse in February 22. They allegedly went straight to the hospital after the surrogate had a miscarriage scare
‘Sofia’s surrogate had developed pain and went to the hospital, fearing that she was going to have a miscarriage,’ the source claimed.
Sofia and Nick were seen leaving a date night at BOA Steakhouse in West Hollywood on February 22, and reportedly headed straight to hospital from the restaurant after learning the news.
‘After several hours, it was determined that the baby was fine, and so was the surrogate mom,’ the source added. ‘Sofia thanked God that everything was OK.’
Noticeably absent: The 40-year-old didn't attend any Oscars events on February 24, instead posting this photo to her Instagram page and claiming she was in bed with the flu
Doting mother: Sofia already has 20-year-old son Manolo, who she is seen with after the Emmys in September, from her former marriage to teenage sweetheart Joe Gonzalez
The actress was noticeably absent from any celebrations on February 24, the night of the Oscars, claiming at the time that she was sick with the flu.
Sofia had posted an image to her Instagram page that evening which showed her tucked up in bed and wrote alongside it: ‘Watching the Oscars at home so I don’t give everyone the flu haha!’
The star revealed back in August that she was considering expanding her own family with another child.
'I would think about it. I can have more nannies. So it wouldn't be something crazy for me. But I wouldn't have four. Maybe one is fine,' she told Allure magazine.

I had delivery complications and had to be repeatedly resusitated on two separate occasions, during the labor. Luckily. my child and I made it.and he was healthy. There were no surrogates back then. If there were, I might have considered one, as I never risked another pregnancy. For myself, I think giving birth at 40 and caring for an infant (even if you have a nanny) is much different than if you had one when you were in your early twenties.
