'She's happy being a mum': Rod Stewart reveals wife Penny Lancaster turned down Real Housewives of Beverly Hills offer

Penny Lancaster was a front-runner to join the cast of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

But her husband Rod Stewart confirmed that the 41-year-old blonde has turned down the job.

The 68-year-old told TMZ that 'she doesn't want to do that sort of thing' as he arrived at Los Angeles International airport on Thursday.

The singer stayed true to his rocker roots in aviator sunglasses and a fur-lined leather jacket as he divulged the news to the website.

'She turned it down,' said the star. 'Whatever she wants to do, she does, she's an independent woman.'

The Maggie May singer emphatically stated a number of times as he walked towards the airport that his leggy wife was not interested in doing show.

According to TMZ, he also said the mother-of-two was 'just happy being a mom.'

Since Adrienne Maloof announced her departure last week, the series producers have been eyeing Penny as a replacement.

But unlike most of the women on the show, Penny is happily married and doesn't need the reality paycheck to keep her luxury lifestyle intact, so the odds of her joining the Real Housewives ranks were never high.

Adrienne took to her Twitter account on Monday to announce she was leaving the series.

Her announcement came after reports suggested that the blonde had been fired from the popular reality series after joining the show in season one.

According to sources who told People magazine, producers grew tired of her lateness for filming and her complex issues.

Camille, on the other hand, found the constant exposure 'hard.'

There were some good times and some not so good times, but it's very hard to live your life out on the screen,' a source told the publication, referring to her divorce from Kelsey Grammar, which was portrayed in the first season of the show.

Extra host Dayna Devon is currently the favourite to be cast in the Bravo series, reports TMZ.
