Mistake was the second time during spring training games

At least she looked good doing it.

A Hooters girl seen seated on the side-lines of a Philadelphia Phillies baseball game left sportscasters dumbfounded and some fans reeling when she jumped up to steal a live ball and throw it into the crowd.

'That is a fair ball and right over the bag,' a sportscaster says as its seen rolling toward the platinum blonde playing ballgirl for a spring training match in Florida.

Wrong way: The young woman is seen enthusiastically jumping up to catch the ball behind third base while the sportscaster watching her nervously reports her next moves turning away from the players on the field

The young woman leaps into action in her orange mini shorts and big yellow sunglasses as the sportscaster is heard nervously watching and reporting what she does next.

'And the ballgirl,' he starts while watching her sweep the ball up with her glove. 'She knocked it down.'

Smiling, she turns with the ball held up in the air, but unfortunately away from the players on the field.

'She has no idea that she's interfered with the play,' he comments just after the Hooters girl finds a little boy to toss the ball to.

After briefly turning around and perhaps seeing the reaction around her, it sinks in.

Entertaining: Holding the ball high for everyone to see she happily carries it over to the crowd before tossing it to a little boy

Hiding: Recognizing her mistake the young woman returns to her chair while covering her face with a baseball glove

'Oh, now she realizes it,' the sportscaster says as the woman buries her face inside her mitt and heads back to her chair.

'That is the second time that's happened this spring,' he comments. 'That was a pretty clean play though.'

The role of ballgirl to the Phillies during regular season is typically given to another batch of young women.

Those women are selected after tryouts that includes testing of their softball skills, interpersonal skills and baseball knowledge.

Judging from the scoreboard shots (shown out of sequence, by the way), the batter was awarded a ground-rule double on the play -- the same thing that would have happened had the ball hopped into the stands on its own. Meanwhile, the speedy and hardworking third baseman and left fielder aren't even in the field of view! It looks like she figured SOMEONE may as well pick up the ball.
