From trash-talking beauty queen to wholesome Girl Scout: Honey Boo Boo proudly joins her local troop

Honey Boo Boo has joined the Girl Scouts of America, putting an end to last week's cookie-selling controversy that saw her at odds with the organization.

A photo of the precocious seven-year-old beaming in a bright yellow Girl Scouts T-shirt was posted on her official Facebook page, revealing her delight.

The picture caption reads: 'Official Girl Scout! She's so excited to be in the troop.'

Loud and proud: The family of Honey Boo Boo, 7, proudly posted this picture on her official Facebook page after she was invited to join her local Girl Scouts troop

The announcement comes as a relief to the former Toddlers and Tiaras star - whose real name is Alana Thompson - as she was recently admonished by the Girl Scouts of America, also known as the GSUSA , for not adhering to their cookie-selling rules.

Last week, the organization stepped in when they discovered Honey Boo Boo was soliciting online orders for Girl Scout cookies despite not being a member.

The ad she and her family had posted on her official Facebook page - which has over 700,000 followers - featured the Girl Scouts logo even though they had not gotten permission to use it.

While the young beauty pageant contestant was merely trying to help her best friend Destiny, who is an official Girl Scout, the organization asked her family to take the ad down.

Controversy: The outspoken reality star got in trouble last week when she used this promotional banner to help her best friend Destiny sell Girl Scout cookies

Honey Boo Boo is famous for her over-the-top personality and hilariously memorable catchphrases like 'A dollar makes me holler!', but the GSUSA did not approve of her using her fame as an unfair advantage for the troop.

The organization also told Omg! that peddling boxes of the treats online defeats the educational aspect of cookie selling, such as learning about social skills and how to set goals.

By contrast, selling the treats in person is meant to teach girls business literacy.

'When you have canvassed your neighborhood and manned cookie booths for hours, you learn the value of a hard day's work,' a spokesperson for the organization stated.

'There is also a strong feeling of accomplishment when you are personally engaged in the activity,' they continued.

After the Facebook debacle, the determined star decided to sell cookies the old-fashioned way - by lending a helping hand to her local troop at the Milledgeville Mall in Georgia.

The mini businesswoman even made a deal with shoppers that if they purchased five boxes of the cookies, she would pose for a picture with them.

And Honey Boo Boo's hard work clearly paid off, as the GSUSA revealed that despite the controversy, she is now the newest member of the very troop she was trying to help.

The organization released this statement: 'Alana's wish to become a Girl Scout came true when she officially joined the same troop in which her best friend, Destiny, is a member.

'Alana's Girl Scout Leadership Experience will allow her to discover more about herself, connect in positive relationships with others and take action about the things that matter most to her.'

What's more, her membership will allow her to sell as many Girl Scout cookies as she wants, without breaking any rules.

First time I watched honey boo boo I changed that channel. I only watched it for like 5 min. I'm just disgusted of the parent's role of letting that child getting big. Other word obese. Can't stand that spoiled snobbish childish attitudes. Ugh it disgusted me even more seeing kids in beauty paegant. With her looking like little miss porgy Shirley Temple on crack. Sorry I said what I felt.

Oh please. Girl Scouts don't sell door-to-door and rarely man booths. They get their parents to take their boxes at work, where they are peddled off of co-workers. Parents should really stop doing the work of their kids. It's seriously not going to help them later in life.

They are trying to instill "business literacy"? I think selling online is much more relevant with modern times than going door to door or setting up a booth at a store. Maybe the Girl Scouts need to think about that?
