As Blair Waldorf she was the most perfectly preened and preppy girl on the Upper East Side.

But Leighton Meester proved that she is nothing like her Gossip Girl character as she headed out completely make-up free in LA at the weekend, dressed down in a grungy outfit.

Stopping by a gas station before headed to yoga class, the 26-year-old looked a far cry from her most famous role as she paired skintight leggings with chunky lace-up boots and a checked shirt.

The actress, who has recently started dating The Oranges co-star Adam Brody, seemed in good spirits as she spent a relaxing day in Hollywood on her own, taking a break from work.

Smiling to herself as she wandered around, the US star looked completely fresh-faced, covering her make-up free complexion with a huge pair of dark sunglasses.

She tucked her short dark hair behind her ears, looking a million miles away from her glamorous red carpet image, blending into the crowd as she hopped into her car.

Leighton, who is currently shooting new film God Only Knows, took a break from filming to spend some down time at the weekend, making the most of her time off with a health kick.

The usually primped and preened star showed off her svelte figure in a the clinging, cropped grey leggings, paired with clunky fur-lined lace-up boots.

She wore a sheer white vest top over a black cropped top and tied an over-sized green and blue checked shirt around her waist, obviously not bothered about being spotted looking so dressed down.

After weeks of speculation, Leighton and actor Adam confirmed their relationship status last week as they were spotted looking cosy on a date night.

The couple have known each other for some time after meeting on the set of the 2011 independent flick, The Oranges.

And it was fans that first connected the pair after spotting them at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

While Leighton is busy working on her new gangster flick, co-starring Harvey Keitel, Adam is yet to announce his next project.

Blair is the real actress and far prettier than Blake Lively i alwys thought she looked like Minka Kelly but in the movie that Leighton plays the evil roomate of Minka's character you realize Leighton is a Great actress and Minka is just awful........

Oh no. Although I love Leighton, I always hoped Adam Brody would get back with Rachael Bilson who played Summer in The OC. I really enjoyed both series!
