Goalkeeper Ben Foster believes Roy Hodgson has put pride and passion into the England team.

Foster has ended his two-year international exile and is hoping to be included in the squad for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers with San Marino and Montenegro.

But the West Brom player feels Hodgson has already made his mark with the Three Lions.

He told the Wolverhampton Express and Star: 'When you look at the way we're playing it's great.

'Against Brazil we played some really good football. Proper, good English-style football.

'The players really worked hard and were so dogged and we see the likes of Jack Wilshere now in midfield, really rattling around.

'It's brilliant to see and the fans love it.

'As long as you're running around, giving everything you've got in every minute of the game, really putting your body on the line, they will take that.

'Roy has put that kind of feeling back in the national team, which is nice, because now the fans really are starting to get behind us and willing us to do really well, which the players are really receptive to.'

Foster is now hopeful England can rid themselves of the tag of perennial under-achievers.

He said: 'I think it's likely we could do a lot better than we have in the past.'

'My memories are the same as everybody else's, a lot of hype and then usually out in the quarter-finals.

'It would be nice to kick on and do a little bit more than that now.'

you will still play second fiddle to Hurt anyway so whats your point? , you still look silly for only caring about the manager than your country .If that was the case Rio would have retired by now as its clear he ain't getting on with the current manager, but NO

Haha guess whos trying to worm his way back into the squad? Hodgson has done nothing with England, in fact he sat and rubbed his chin whilst Pirlo destroyed his 1970's style 4-4-2 team

Get him out of the squad. He is a bad example. Imagine if a British soldier refuse to fight for this General and only fight for that General. what will happen to Great Britain ?

Traitor - deserted their country - you play for your country nit choose which manager you like. If I were RH I wouldn't pick him as a. Example - that is if he warranted picking which he doesn't.

There's always someone who wasn't in favour, gets a sniff of getting into the squad, comes out and starts kissing ass.
