Opera Mini 3.1.2

We've released Opera Mini 3.1.2 on our download servers. As the version number suggests, this is a very minor update compared to the previous release, 3.1.1. Still, it's important for many Opera Mini users.

New in this release is some changes in the network code, developed in cooperation with mobile operators and network equipment manufacturers to better cope with some mobile-specific network problems.

If you are experiencing loading problems or are unable to connect at all, this updated version of Opera Mini may solve these problems for you. (This has nothing to do with T-Mobile US blocking Opera Mini on the cheaper plans, though)

While updating Opera Mini, please note that your bookmarks and history may be lost. It really depends on the phone, so it's something we unfortunately can't predict.

Cruel...cruel...

I'm "chicken" - Opera 3.1 works fine on this Palm Treo 650 (WAP/GSM) so I'll wait for Dimension, or whatever the new version happens to be. Don't care about History but treasure my Bookmarks!

For me, Mini 3.x was a whale of an improvement over 2.x, which I also had on an older Motorola V505 first.

Keep up the good work!

(Am hoping that Treo 'phones with Opera Mobile OS will come to Maine, USA, eventually. Blazer is the OS on this Treo and it gives a new meaning to the word "pathetic" [slow and with too many Microsoft-ish butt-ins and prompts while loading URLs]. I run Opera Mini most of the time, doing E-Mail from my server with Open WebMail, similar to mail2web.com. That keeps me away from Blazer for most operations.)

Several friends bought Nokia models (E60 and E61i) with Symbian, and they are wild about them. Don't believe either has Opera Mini, so far.

Best wishes,
Douglas Henderson

Good news! Could you be please more specific about the changes? Is it a security fix for a limited number of models only? Maybe now is also the time to update the following pages:
-http://www.opera.com/mini/phones/
or update and add them to operamini.com.

theoddbod Monday, June 11, 2007 11:29:46 PM

The new one appears to currently be version 10.

Dark FurieFurie Monday, June 11, 2007 11:33:44 PM

It's the dimension server using opera 10 as rendering engine, cool huh? Previous version is using opera 8.01

Ariarihuh Tuesday, June 12, 2007 10:39:04 AM

Where can the update be downloaded?
At least the Finnish version on the Finnish-speakin wap-site is still 3.1.0

FavDjiXas Tuesday, June 12, 2007 12:30:53 PM

Why I get "same verion already exists , overwrite?" message, when trying to download this one? :/

Help > About 3.1.8295?

Dark FurieFurie Tuesday, June 12, 2007 12:33:44 PM

There's a difference in them, even if it seems to be the same thing.
Personally, when setting up now, I get 6 connection tests instead of 4.

Ryan Octavianusphilry4n Tuesday, June 12, 2007 12:39:44 PM

Yes that's the noticeable change i think

How can i download the Opera Mini 3.1.2?
why dosen't it support the bookmark and RSS upload to everyone's own my.opera ID.
and we can also manage the bookmark and RSS of our my.opera ID on PC.
Or the bookmark and RSS can be outputed as a file.
even if we use another phone, can aslo input the file.

How do I download it.. because when I go to operamini.com it there is no option for the 3.1.2 only the 3.1.0 downloads

sremick Thursday, June 14, 2007 5:36:32 PM

How about some more detail on what has changed with this version? Seems only fair for an update that might (on in the case of Palms, WILL) erase all your bookmarks and force you to re-enter them. sad

Seems only fair that we at least know the benefits so we can weigh in on whether it's worthwhile for us to risk our bookmarks.

And yeah, I second the previous comment... I've mentioned myself countless times on the forum.

MarianneManneS Thursday, June 14, 2007 5:42:49 PM

Don't bother updating if you have no issues now. smile

Dark FurieFurie Thursday, June 14, 2007 7:05:59 PM

Sremick, the update's for people like me who occasionally get connection problems. The only new "features" are a better set of connection protocols.
bigsmile

theoddbod Thursday, June 14, 2007 7:41:00 PM

I was hoping it would let me use Socket, but sadly not. Next stop : Dimension! bigsmile

Dark FurieFurie Thursday, June 14, 2007 7:59:26 PM

I'm using socket apparently.

"How do I download it.. because when I go to operamini.com it there is no option for the 3.1.2 only the 3.1.0 downloads"

We only use two numbers in the build number in the JAR & JAD for compability reasons, so 3.1 on our download servers means 3.1.x, sorry for the confusion. Actually, some phones will even report 3.1 as 3.01 to add even more confusion.

leenalightsofsky Sunday, June 17, 2007 9:15:39 AM

myspace is work well with other browsers.. but it still doesnt work well with opera mini the new one and old one.

Hello,

I am now using Opera Mini 4.1 on my 2 Nokia cell 'phones, a model E62 and this deluxe E90 Communicator. With Symbian OS, the latest Mini edition is just fantastic, vastly better than 4.0 previously.

My Treo 650 died after 3 years of Paln OS and Mini 3.x.

I highly recommend upgrading to Mini 4.1 since it's so good.

Regards, Douglas
