From slick vampire to dishevelled bad boy, Robert Pattinson's locks have undergone their fair share of transformations of late.

And on Monday night the Twilight heartthrob appeared to have undergone yet another transformation, hiding what looked like a shaven head under his cap.

Having just wrapped on his latest movie, The Rover, it was the 26-year-old's final night out in Australia before jetting home to Los Angeles.

But whether or not Robert will land back in on-again-off-again girlfriend Kristen Stewart's arms is a story yet to be told.

The 22-year old actress has not been to visit her on/off boyfriend during his nine weeks in Australia.

This was widely reported to have been Robert's choice - with the actor wanting to concentrate on his demanding role.

But the somewhat coy smile sported by Robert hints he is feeling positive about his return to the States, and perhaps to Kristen.

The actress will be hoping Robert's hair eradication is only temporary, and not symbolic of an intention to wipe the slate clean in his love life, too.

Robert's role in The Rover saw him playing a thieving criminal with messy hair and disgusting teeth.

It is a far cry from the famously glittering Edward Cullen that put Robert on the map.

The English actor did appear relatively frail on his final night in the land down under, though he did spend February roughing it up in the South Flinders Rangers, so it's probably not surprising.
