Moyes' future at Everton in doubt over money matters

By Simon Jones

Everton reserve team coach Alan Stubbs believes David Moyes needs fresh assurances about the club before he signs a new deal at Goodison Park.

Moyes has been widely praised for making Everton a side challenging for a European place despite financial constraints and the fact that some rivals can splash out millions regularly on new players.

The Scotsman will wait until the end of the season before deciding his future and, talking to the Sports Bar, Stubbs said: 'The decision is more off the pitch rather than on the pitch. It will be about his budget.

'He’ll want assurances about what players get sold and the amount of money that he'll get to spend from those transfers.

'He wants to see the direction that the club is taking before he commits his future to it. It’s a crossroads for the board as well, not just the manager.'

Everton have had a topsy-turvy couple of weeks, with a shocking 3-0 FA Cup defeat by Wigan followed by a 2-1 Barclays Premier League win over champions Manchester City.

Moyes's men are currently sixth in the table, three points ahead of neighbours Liverpool.

Whats interesting about how this nonesense is presented on here is that nowhere in the body of the story does it say that Moyes will extend his contract. However if you look at the top photo is states underneath. In the balance: David Moyes is likely to extend his stay at Everton. I reckon he will because I dont believe he will get a better offer.

Tony, M/Side - commenting on an Everton article to call us bitters? If you're going to try to insult us, I'd suggest not making yourself look like a hypocritical berk.

- Harry , Newcastle, United Kingdom, 20/3/2013 09:40 Harry. Glass houses my old son. Newcastle are like the instant mash of football. Just add water and there you are. Same with the bar codes. 18,000 gates pre Keegan then add the EPL and all of a sudden 40k+. The funny thing is every one of those 40k were all regulars when you couldnt pull in 20k. Funny that isnt it?? It goes to show the RS dont hold a monopoly on the puerile.

Oh Harry from Newcastle how funny you are. Anti football and thug tactis, if where you come from is anything to go by then Newcastle are one of the worst teams I have ever seen grace the premier league. You bleat on about being a massive club but your a one team city and play some of the dullest football I have ever seen and sunday was a great example of that

Everton wouldn't miss him if he went. He is often negative, and I don't think I can remember him preparing a team to win a 'big' must win game. FA. Cup final against Chelsea? Loss! FA cup semi against the RS? Loss! Couldn't even motivate his team to beat Wigan at home! Has performed minor miracles in the transfer market, along with a team of scouts who never seem to get mentioned! I can think of a number of managers who could replace him - Steve Clarke, Martinez, and maybe Brenda Rodgers could do a decent job and would be interested in coming to Everton in my opinion

I think you'll find it was Everton 2 - 0 Man City (not 2-1)

Where would he go? Who above Everton would take him? Who on the continent would take his style of football? Maybe he can replace Pulis at Stoke, would be a like for like swap, a team built on anti-football, thug tactics etc. He'd get more money to spend than he does at Everton...

I really love this with the Media Pundits , Everton playing staff and supporter sycophants all bleating as one that its up to Everton to justify themselves to Moyes. According to them the manager who has won NOTHING for the club for 11 years and who gets paid a Kings Ransom for achieving NOTHING has no responsibility for the way Everton CAPITULATE so regularly in the big games and never win ANYTHING . Yor' 'avin a laff!!!!! as they say. MOYES OUT NOW.
