She was just one of a host of stars on the red carpet at Germany's Echo Awards on Thursday night.

So Lana Del Rey made sure she stood out from her international and German contemporaries as she opted for some very eye-catching hair clips.

The American singer, real name Elizabeth Grant, pinned back her dark brown locks with a flamboyant pair of bejewelled crocodile shaped clips.

Her matching crocodile bracelet certainly drew attention away from her low-cut white draped gown, while swamped her slim figure.

The Born To Die star ended up winning two awards at Germany's answers to the Grammys and Brit Awards - Best International Newcomer and Best International Female Pop/Rock Artist.

On the red carpet, Lana joined former France First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, who was one of the performers on the night.

The two women looked like they were getting on famously as they chatted about music on the red carpet.

In contrast to Lana's gown, Italian-French model Carla went for an androgynous look in a trouser suit.

Representing the UK were Scottish singer Emeli Sande and Katie Melua.

Emeli, who missed out on Best International Pop/Rock Female Artist and International Newcomer to Lana, arrived solo and posed in a white blazer and blue pencil skirt.

Meanwhile, Katie wore an unusual dress, which appeared to have a very heavy piece of draping hanging off it, as she arrived with her new husband, superbike champion James Toseland.

Also in attendance was Canadian crooner Michael Buble.
