Brother from another mother: Lamar Odom parties with his favourite in-law Rob Kardashian until 2am

In amidst all the inorganic exchanges on the various reality shows pushed by the Kardashians, there are a few moments that really seem genuine.

Many of them come from the triumvirate of Lamar Odom, his wife Khloe and her little brother Rob.

Khloe, 28, is closest in age to the one boy in the family, who's still only 26, and Lamar, who is the mature one of the three at 33, acts as a big brother to the young man.

So it was sweet to see Lam affectionately putting his arm around Rob as they left a nightclub in Hollywood together on Wednesday night.

The pair had enjoyed a boys' night out at Emerson nightclub in the party epicentre of Los Angeles and both appeared to have a nice, relaxed time.

Rob needs Lamar at the moment, as it's not been an easy few months for him.

His break up with Rita Ora was painfully messy and culminated with Rob Tweeting up a heartbroken storm laced with vitriol towards his lost love.

It was big sis Khloe who stepped into the virtual meltdown and told the 'kid' to take it easy.

And it seems as though the married couple are making it their business to assist in Rob's revival.

His recent dramatic weight gain suggests he isn't happy, he admitted on a February episode of Kourtney & Kim Take Miami: 'All I did was waste a lot of money and gain 40 pounds.'

LA Clippers star Lamar hasn't always found life to be plain sailing, he went through a separation with the mother of his three children, Destiny, 17, Lamar Jr, 11, and Jayden, eight.

And his 6½-month-old infant son Jayden died from SIDS while sleeping in his crib in New York.

Odom's father is also a heroin addict, his cousin was shot and he and Khloe are dealing with very public fertility issues, but they still manage to smile through.

So if anyone can help Rob put things in perspective, it's probably Lamar.
