Venus Williams can't seem to keep her mind on the game as she embraces her Cuban model boyfriend on court in Miami

If anyone knows the importance of keeping her mind on the game, it's Venus WIlliams.

But the tennis superstar seemed somewhat distracted by the presence of her boyfriend Elio Pis as he joined her on court in Miami, where Venus and her sister Serena are competing in the 2013 Sony Open.

Stopping to embrace the handsome hunk, Venus looked like tennis was the last thing on her mind.

The Olympic gold medalist was dressed casually for tennis practice in turquoise knee-length leggings and a white V-neck T-shirt.

Her only jewellery was one gold necklace.

Elio was dressed in blue jeans and a white polo shirt to visit his lady on court, and he took off his brightly coloured red and yellow sunglasses to kiss his girlfriend.

The champion sportswoman's father Richard Williams also popped along to support Venus with his 33 year old wife Lakeisha and their seven-month old son Dylan Starr Richard Williams.

Venus has been dating the 24-year-old model since last year.

Elio shares his lady's passion for fashion, and has been featured in French Vogue with Brooke Shields and has modeled for Russell Simmons's clothing line.

The model has also worked with Venus on her athletic line, EleVen, and the pair recently posed together for her website, showing off her ready-to-wear tennis apparel.

The 24-year-old Brazilian accompanied his new girlfriend when she made her return to tennis last year at the New York Grand Slam tournament.

She was previously out of the circuit after battling Sjögren's Syndrome, a systemic autoimmune disease in which immune cells attack and destroy the exocrine glands that produce tears and saliva.

Elio was pictured watching his girlfriend from the grand stands as she played.

Venus was eventually eliminated in the tournament after losing to Germany's Angelique Kerber.

She was also eliminated with younger sister Serena in the doubles competition.

According to his Facebook page, Elio is a huge fan of tennis, but this isn't the only thing the couple have in common.

Being a model, he also shares a passion for fashion and has even modelled some of Venus's designs from her sportswear line EleVen, appearing on her website alongside her.

The 6'1 hunk has also been featured in French Vogue with Brooke Shields and has modeled for Russell Simmons's clothing line.

Like Venus, Elio also lives in Florida after moving from his native Cuba.

And he is not just a pretty face either, he also has the brains to go with his brawn.

After studying how to speak English, he graduated with a psychology degree from Florida International University in 2010.

According to his Facebook page, Elio describes himself as a 'Constant thinker, realist and optimistic, feel the energy, strong, smart, slick, bipolar, fun, and blunt. Outspoken, free minded, free spirit, passionate and applied.'

He also says that he loves to play checkers and enjoys reading books such as Robert Wright's The Moral Animal.

The 1993 Robert De Niro crime drama A Bronx Tale is his favorite movie, and he likes listening to Miami recording artist J-Toven.

The doting model also only lists only one athlete on his Facebook page - his Venus.

I hope the Williams sisters will eventually find true love and settle down. Their big bank accounts and huge muscles and some Diva attitude from Serena seem to scare men away but guys be warned, never judge a book by it's cover. It is better to find a kind woman than a beautiful one who will age with anger of having lost her spark and take it out all on you! Venus is brilliant. And for a tennis player, her illness Sjogren's Syndrome is a particular nightmare - fatigue making it harder to practice like she used to and occasional swollen hands making it difficult to get the right feel on her shots. To come back and still be out there fighting, at 32, just shows her spirit and how much she loves the game. In that respect she's really an inspirational sports figure I think.

I don't actually care for the Williams sisters, though of the two I prefer Venus. Not sure it if the guy is into her or not but the age difference is no big deal - him 24, her 32.... 8 years... big whoopdedoo... . if it was reversed no one would be making comments. Oh----- my husband and I have been together for over 20 years, I am not rich (nor is he) and I am 6 years older than he is. Friyend of ours, she is 24 years older than her husband, they've been together 20 years (since he was 22) and are perfectly happy - not to mention how much fun it is to see him called "papa" by his 36 year old step-daughter and hear her kids call him grandpa.................... Williams senior. Some young women like older men, even without money. All through my childhood my grandfather had 20something women on his arm. He dies at 104 with a 32 year old girlfriend. My 87 year old grandfather was dating a 35 year old when he died..... my family, as stated before, is not even remotely rich.
