Is American Eagle selling SPRAY-ON jeans? Spoof ad for denim-in-a-can promises 'skinniest and tightest fit yet'
|
It may not be April 1st yet, but American Eagle Outfitters already appears to be fooling fans with a limited-edition range of spray-on jeans.
The Skinny Skinny Jeans product page on the label's website shows two cans, in indigo and 'bright light', each $49.95, and a description bills it as 'our skinniest and tightest fit yet and is so comfortable, you’ll feel like you’re wearing nothing at all.'
Tellingly, though, one cannot actually select a color or order - instead, one is informed that the product has temporarily sold out.

An accompanying commercial is equally convincing, were it not so cheesy and the jeans so hideous.
It features models sketching, skateboarding and playing music in this apparently spray-on denim, describing how creative they are. Such creativity, apparently includes activities such as matching jeans with T-shirts and playing vinyls while practicing your best Blue Steel.

'Like wearing nothing at all': The attractive cast describes just how much they love skinny jeans
The attractive cast then goes on to describe just how much they love skinny jeans, which apparently cannot be skinny enough.
'I love REALLY skinny jeans,' says one girl as she assesses her appearance in the mirror.
'It's like they were made JUST for me,' her co-star adds.

In the comments below the video on the AE blog, one wrote: 'Lmao! I think if this were real, I'd never complain about leggings as pants again [sic].'
Another added: 'This can't be real.'
A representative for the brand was unavailable to respond to MailOnline's request for comment.
