Rihanna had better watch out as a new female pop star is ready to battle her for the top spot in music.

London singer Arlissa Rupert is well positioned to challenge Rihanna in the music world as she has the same manager as the Bajan star.

Arlissa, 20, is hoping to follow in the footsteps of the Diamonds singer after getting signed up by her manager.

Roc Nation's Joe Brown overheard Arlissa's distinctive vocals being played and instantly decided to take her under his experienced wing.

With her first single, Sticks & Stones, out now and her debut album due to drop later this year, she is definitely one to watch.

Speaking to the Evening Standard she explained exactly how her music ended up in the ears of Brown.

She told the newspaper: 'I was writing and recording with a friend.

'He got some people from London Records down to the studio and they offered me a contract the same day.'

She added: 'The label were playing my music to some people at Roc Nation in New York. Joe Brown walked past, heard the music and said on the spot, 'I want her'.

'I flew out the next week, met Joe and signed a management deal.'

While making music is her passion, Arlissa is also doing a bit of modelling on the side too.

Signed to the Next Model Management agency, she is used to being in front of the camera just like Rihanna is.

As much as I dislike Rihanna, she has about 7 albums out and multiple Grammy awards.............. I don't think she has any competition!!!!!!!! - Michelle , Leeds, United Kingdom, 16/3/2013 17:42 - She may have 7 albums and multiple grammy's but the self respect has long gone, Hopefully Arlissa will maintain her self respect and dignity.

As long as she doesn't go step by step like start dressing and acting like Rita Ora or something its all good. Arlissa has a lovely voice and is pretty attractive, from my point of view she has a decent style

I'm not entirely sure it's a good thing being likened to Rihanna?!

She is completely different to Rihanna judging by her song, and to be quite fair Rihanna has reached such a high level of fame that no one can really compete with her which, fair play to her she works hard for her career more than a lot of other great singers hence why they're nowhere to be seen. Either way best of luck to Arlissa hopefully she does well in America.
