Eva Mendes means business as she steps out for meeting in polka-dot frock and ankle boots

Eva Mendes has been on an endless whirlwind of appearances.

And yet she continued to look her best as she stepped out in New York on Thursday looking sweet and feminine in an espresso-hued frock with mini white polka dots.

Fortunately the actress-turned-designer, 39, has a collection of new fashions at her fingertips to choose from, and her choice of wear was both festive and fresh.

Eva's dress was made of flowing material that moved as she moved, and there was a wide belt around her waist that matched her brown leather high-heeled ankle boots.

Brown polka dot tights were a warming touch, especially in that chilly air, but Eva was trotting so briskly she probably never felt cold.

Eva carried a matching brown leather handbag and wore her chocolate-brown hair long and loosely curled.

It appeared that Eva had business to attend to regarding her fashion line.

A large pair of tortoiseshell framed sunsglasses hid her eyes from view, but not her slight smile.

Eva held a small coffee, which she probably needed after all that running around.

She'd just come off a busy Wednesday night of promoting her new film, A Place Beyond The Pines.

Eva appeared on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart in New York and then changed clothes to attend a private screening of A Place Beyond The Pines at the Museum of Modern Art.

It was while filming the action drama that Eva fell in love with her co-star - and current live-in love - Ryan Gosling.

In addition to her busy acting career, Eva is working on developing her Eva by Eva Mendes colleciton for New York & Co.

The line features 'day to evening' dresses as well as accessories, all of which Eva personally approves herself.

'I love anything that winks to yesteryear,' Eva told Woman's Wear Daily.

'In this day and age where everybody has a stylist, I appreciate the kind of woman who steps out of the box.

'I love feeling like an individual. I want to share all these little tips with women.

'I have a ton of ideas, but it’s a bit early to discuss them. [The project] is taking up all my time, but in the best way possible.

'Everything I see is a possible design. My mind is consumed by it. I’m fortunate enough to travel to so many exotic places.'
