Legally brunette! Reese Witherspoon swaps her blonde hair for dark shade

Legally Blonde star Reese Witherspoon has swapped her signature blonde hair colour for a dark new look.

The actress, who has just turned 37, unveiled her updated 'do while heading out to lunch with her husband Jim Toth and eight-month-old son Tennessee in Nashville over the weekend.

But it wasn't the most glamourous way to debut fresh locks.

The A-list actress was seen with her tresses pulled back into a loose ponytail and her bangs swept behind her ears, revealing her beautiful bare face with minimal make-up.

She later changed up her hairstyle, sporting a messy bun as she carried her blonde boy in her arms.

Bundled up for the chilly weather, Reese was wearing a striped green sweater beneath a preppy black jacket, teamed with a pair of skinny trousers and black flats.

Her son Tennessee was clearly warmer than his mum, as Reese was seen carrying his puffy blue coat in her other arm.

But the tot did bundle up with a cute striped beanie hat, before Reese and her husband swapped parental duties.

Jim also took a turn cradling their young one as they strolled through the parking lot.

He looked neatly put together with a blue button-down blouse that he paired with a fitted cardigan, cuffed denim trousers, and brown suede shoes.

Smiling, the doting dad appeared just as happy to be spending time with his wife, regardless of her new hair colour.

Yet, it's not the first time the star has been brunette - she dyed her locks to play June Carter in her Oscar-winning role in Walk the Line.

But It's unclear if her latest change is for a film part this time around, or simply just for fun.

She currently has three movies in pre-production including Wish List, The Good Lie and Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus.

Reese, who also has two children, Ava, 13, and Deacon, 10, with her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, is back from a romantic break in Cabo San Lucas, where she celebrated her birthday with her agent husband - as a blonde.

She looks great either colour but personally I look the brown. I think she always looks great and she doesn't seem bothered that she's photographed not wearing make up or with perfectly styled hair - good for her. She never seems to look any older either!
