Shades on parade! Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale enjoy a girl's day out as they go shopping for sunglasses

They are no strangers to rocking out at the summer festivals.

And it looked like Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale were preparing to hit them up in style as they went shopping on Wednesday.

The High School Musical co-stars were pictured enjoying some retail therapy at the Bloomingdale’s department store in Sherman Oaks, California.

The Disney actresses teamed up to try on some sunglasses in the Ray-Bans section just one week before the Coachella Festival begins in the Indio area of California.

The regular attendees of the music event were seen checking out several different pairs of sunglasses, from the bright and colourful to more eccentric printed frames.

Many fans favour the hippy look for the annual gathering and it looks like Vanessa, 24, was getting some practice in for the fashionable event.

She strutted around the store with a yellow flower in her brunette locks, at one point piling her strands in a bun on her head to see how might look for the three day event.

Vanessa rocked a floral maxi skirt with her crop top, plus flip flops on her feet, a cross pendant around her neck teamed with beaded bracelets.

But Ashley, 27, showed her completely different sense of style, pairing a New York Yankees baseball cap with jogging bottoms and a loose top.

Vanessa's recent movie, Spring Breakers came out in American movie theatres last month and she also released a video clip of her song $$$ex this week.

The role of Candy was something of a departure for the 24-year-old star who strutted around in a bikini in much of the film and also took part in a threesome sex scene with co-stars James Franco and Ashley Benson.

'The thing I was most scared of was the sex scene and the nudity issue behind all of it,' she told MTV News about the role.

'It was just kind of like, "This is crazy! This is happening" " she recalled. 'Hallelujah for Ashley, and the fact that it was a pool kind of made it a lot of fun.

'I was like, "Peace out for a second. I'm going to swim around." But it was just great. Everybody was comforting. They wanted to let me know that it was going to be OK and that I'm safe.'

Vanessa has completed several more films, including thriller The Frozen Ground alongside Nicholas Cage; indie drama Gimme Shelter with Brendan Fraser and ensemble action flick Machete Kills which co-stars Sofia Vergara and Mel Gibson.

Meanwhile Ashley's new film Scary Movie 5 – also starring Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen - will be out on April 12.

She plays Jody Campbell in the spoof flick and also takes on the role of Jazmine in the upcoming TV series Super Fun Night.
