Boys' night out: Robert Pattinson parties with pals Vince Vaughan and Joaquin Phoenix after enjoying romantic lunch date with Kristen Stewart

He was snapped earlier in the week tenderly holding his on-again off-again girlfriend Kristen Stewart's hand as the two enjoyed a lunch date.

But Robert Pattinson reserved Friday night for just the boys.

The 26-year-old was seen looking typically casual in a hoodie as he left a private party at The Larchmont in Los Angeles with a group of male friends, including actors Vince Vaughn and Joaquin Phoenix.

The Twilight star wore baggy jeans, a T-shirt and a denim jacket, covering his head with a grey hoodie as he made his way to his car after eating at the farm-to-table restaurant in Larchmont Village.

The tall actor hunched as he walked with his hands in his jeans' pockets, and he sported an unshaven look.

He appeared happy to be spending a night with the boys, cracking a smile as he climbed into the backseat of a car alongside a friend.

Also joining Rob at the event was Vince Vaughan, who wore a grey T-shirt and jeans as he walked ahead of Rob toward their parked cars.

It appeared to be quite a jubilant scene in the packed car, with the men laughing and cracking jokes while Joaquin smoked a cigarette in the front.

Robert put an end to speculation that he and Kristen had called it quits after stepping out with the 22-year-old actress on Wednesday, looking content as he held her hand.

Sources said the couple were seen laughing and joking with each other and were 'really happy and lovey-dovey' during their lunch.

'Kristen grabbed his arm, and they were walking and joking. She took some pictures of the friends they were with on her phone,' the source told Popsugar. 'They seemed really together. Really relaxed.'

The actor recently returned to Los Angeles from Australia where he was filming futuristic Western The Rover.

He had spent nine weeks apart from Kristen while filming alongside Guy Pearce and Scott McNairy in the film.

But the pair have been inseparable since Robert's return, both attending a birthday dinner for mutual friend Katy Perry's assistant and spotted taking a night-time stroll in their Los Feliz neighbourhood.

Why does it look like he only smiles when he is with his friends and not his girlfriend?" Latoya, Kingston ---------- You must have missed the photos of him smiling when he was walking with Kristen. He seems happy enough with her. And always in a group? There were photos of them alone together just last week! They live together so I'm sure they have plenty of alone time. Excuse them for wanting to hang out with their friends.
