Back in business! Benedict Cumberbatch and Amanda Abbington continue to film series three of Sherlock

From Bristol to Cheltenham, the Sherlock production continued on Tuesday after the Easter weekend.

Leading man Benedict Cumberbatch, 36, was his usual dapper self, wearing a navy suit and shirt while his sidekick Martin Freeman, 41, masked himself from the cold in a parka coat and thick scarf.

However his wife, Amanda Abbington, 39, looked like she was getting ready for a ball, with her blonde locks set in a hair net as she carried a black fur coat.

Filming scenes at The Daffodil restaurant, many of the female extras were seen in formal attire, which could suggest the  first episode of the new series will include some action at a ball or similar event.

Despite their busy schedule, Benedict did take time out to pose with one lucky fan who waited for the actor with her dad.

Jenessa, from Wotton Under Edge, told the Gloucestershire Echo: 'We were the only people there and Ben was so lovely and devoted a whole bunch of time to us even though he had his car waiting.

'He spoke to my dad and I for about 10 minutes.'

The setting wasn't limited to The Daffodil with the production taking the cast and crew to a more laid back location.

At the Spencer cafe Benedict, Martin and Amanda shot scenes for the rest of the afternoon.

It has been rumoured Amanda will be playing Watson's love interest Mary Morstan, who the doctor goes on to marry.

The first episode of Series 3 is loosely based on The Adventure Of The Empty House, in which Arthur Conan Doyle revealed how Sherlock had faked his death in The Reichenbach Fall.

In August, show creator Steven Moffat hinted at the forthcoming series: 'These three words might be a title, it might be a clue. They are Rat. Wedding. Bow.'

The Series 2 finale, which was first broadcast on 15 January 2012, followed evil Jim Moriarty's (Andrew Scott) plot to discredit and kill Sherlock.

The detective was then seen faking his suicide watched by Watson.

With broadcast of Series 3 scheduled for later this year, it's been quite a wait for the viewers of Sherlock.

Martin Freeman always takes care of his appearance. I can say little for Amanda and she is certainly no hot catch. Martin Marry me I do not have loads of debts and I am very stylish like yourself.

Not sure how I feel about Amanda being in the mix maybe she will spoil things? She obviously can't stay away from Martin for too long, then again I can well understand that he is such a gorgeous man body and soul

I always like to think of myself as a 'more grown up version' of Sherlock. Maybe our politicians should be more like him instead of always being bad at politics.

So if Amanda Abbington has this acting job, does that mean she can pay off her debts and not go through with declaring bankruptcy (which she should be able to do IMO since her partner, Martin Freeman, obviously makes loads of money - it's not fair for her to weasel out of paying her debts when she's obviously got money coming in herself too!)?
