'I don't understand love': Rihanna confesses she's confused about romance amidst rumours that she and Chris Brown are on the rocks

Rihanna says she doesn't understand love.

The Stay singer - whose relationship with her on/off boyfriend Chris Brown is reported to be on the rocks again - opened up to her fans on stage in Los Angeles, on Monday night.

The 25-year-old hinted that all is not well in her romantic life.

The pop star, who is currently on her Diamonds world tour, asked the audience: 'How many of you are in love?

'How many of you hate love? How many of you don't f**king understand it? I'm in that group.'

The confession came, according to People.com , as an introduction to her new song What Now from her latest album.

The lyrics for the new track are quite revealing: 'I've been ignoring this big lump in my throat. I shouldn't be crying, tears were for the weaker days.

'I'm stronger, now what, so I say. But something's missing.'

While the singer may be embroiled in relationship trouble, she took to the stage dressed like royalty.

The Diamonds (In The Sky) artist wore a gold embroidered jacket and thigh-high leather boots.

The petite songstress completed the outfit with black and gold briefs, a leather bikini top, and a diaphanous shirt.

The Barbados native has been finding it difficult to see 23-year-old Chris, who is gearing up to release his new album X.

The couple - who reconciled last year even though Chris is still on probation for beating her in 2009 - were spotted partying separately at different Los Angeles hotspots over the weekend.

But friends of the couple insist they are still together and just have a lot going on.

A source previously said: 'Chris ain't trying to hear no nonsense today. It's simple, he with [Rihanna].

'They're cool and if and when something changes between them that's between them - they both have a lot going in their careers right now and just doing them and focused on they work.'

The insider went on to explain: 'They've been trying to connect but it hasn't been clicking for them. It ain't like Rihanna got time to just chill and run through - she's on tour and her schedule is way too tight.'

i like rihanna and I like her style, I think she's beautiful, she has some really good songs, and yeah she has some rubbish ones too, but I don't like her on stage. I don't mind her outfits, i love her style, and I understand dancehall and being sexy, but there's a way of incorporating a bit of that and being sexy with attitude but with class. It is possible, she DOES have class when she performs ballads, and in interviews she's sweet and funny. Gyrate in Rudeboy Riri, I don't need to see you slapping and gyrating your crotch in EVERYTHING

Well, start with someone who respects you - this does not include beating you to a pulp. How can she have any kind of a relationship with a man who did that to her? If she continues this relationship she deserves everything she gets.
