The municipal consumer protection of the Federal City of Bonn has to work in the fields of prevention, limitation of acute risks, information and advice.
Among the tasks of preventive consumer protection count for instance controlling the meat treating and selling industry as well as farms. In a cooperative association with the cities of Cologne and Leverkusen, tests of food, cosmetics, objects of daily use and tobacco products are also an important part of local consumer protection services.
One of the essential activities, however, is to offer information material in order to assist the citizen to deal with the flood of serious and less serious information and to counter unjustified suspicion of producers and trade.
