Olivia Palermo slips into coral statement coat and floral flats as she steps out with pooch Mr. Butler

For Olivia Palermo, even a task as mundane as dog walking warrants a sartorial statement.

The socialite slipped into a fashion-forward coral coat while strolling the sidewalk with pooch Mr. Butler on Friday.

Palermo, 27, spent much of the walk deeply engaged in a phone conversation.

The style icon tempered her over-sized tangerine coat with a basic pair of distressed skinny jeans ripped at one knee.

Several gold rings, a floral-printed flats and black shades completed the look.

Palermo, thoroughly involved in her phone conversation, appeared slightly irritated; meanwhile, Mr. Butler could barely contain his excitement at the afternoon prowl.

Absent from the outing was Palermo's boyfriend, model Johannes Huebl, whom she has dated since 2008.

Just two weeks ago, the brand ambassador donned the same coat, from high street hit Zara, to attend the launch of Alizé COCO Peach as well as a Hollywood Reporter event with boyfriend Johannes Huebl.

She spoke fondly of the company, telling E! News, 'Everything in Zara is fabulous!'

Later, she told Glamour of the colourful coat, 'I love a pop of color.'
