The Undertaker Vs Brock Lesnar rumoured for WWE WrestleMania 27 in 2011

by Wayne K. Wilkins

Created on: October 25, 2010

In what is arguably becoming one of the most talked about sporting super clashes in the world, following Brock Lesnar’s world heavyweight championship loss at UFC 121 followed by his exchange of words with WWE’s The Undertaker, their personal situation had been in question. However, one night later, the situation was further fuelled by rumour after The Undertaker lost his own world heavyweight championship bout after being buried alive at WWE Bragging Rights to his brother, Kane. Now, it is speculated that the war of words between the two hulking behemoths could result in a super-clash of the two sports, culminating in The Undertaker Vs Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 27 in 2011.

There is actually more substance to this rumour than initially meets the eye based on the past and the present alike. The fact that the WWE in the past year has taken steps to bring “realism” back to wrestling means that the confrontation between The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar at UFC 121 could have actually been planned to begin with. The Undertaker is a frequent sight at UFC events as a publicised fan of the sport. Given the fact that The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar engaged in a legendary rivalry in the early 2000’s, it would certainly be a nostalgic confrontation between the two contrasting superstars.

Another sign that could point to the potential confrontation is that just one night after the rumours broke of potential talks between the WWE and Brock Lesnar for a potential one night return at WrestleMania against The Undertaker, The Undertaker himself was buried alive, losing his world championship bout against Kane. This raises further speculation as the last time The Undertaker was buried alive by Kane, he went on to return at WrestleMania and claimed victory over Kane. In the event that The Undertaker takes time off following WWE Bragging Rights 2010, this could easily prove to be a set-up for “The Deadman’s” return at WrestleMania 2011.

While right now it is nothing more than sheer rumour, there is just too much substance currently available based on present day rumours, past confrontations and past events to support the fact that the WWE’s Undertaker and the UFC’s Brock Lesnar could indeed cross paths at WrestleMania XXVII in 2011. In the event that Vince McMahon and Dana White could strike a deal that would allow Lesnar to appear and wrestle, wrestling fans and MMA fans alike could see the return of “The Next Big Thing” to the WWE to take on his former rival, The Undertaker. It is currently the most talked about sporting rumour in the world today; could The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar wrestle at WWE WrestleMania 27 in 2011 following the events that transpired at UFC 121 and WWE Bragging Rights 2010?
