| Sunday, April 14, 1918 -- Army Lts. Alan Winslow & Douglas Campbell, fly Nieuport 28s, the 94th Aero Squadron, & down 2 German fighters in 10 mins. Winslow is the 1st pilot in the American sector of the front to do so; Campbell is the first US-trained pilot to score a victory.
| | Tuesday, April 15, 1952 -- The Boeing YB-52 Stratofortress bomber prototype makes its maiden flight from Seattle, Wash. with pilot A.M. "Tex" Johnston.
| | Tuesday, April 15, 1986 -- In Operation El Dorado Canyon, US Air Force F-111s launch from England, refueled in air 6 times by KC-10s, maintain radio silence, & are joined by Navy A-6s in a retaliatory raid against Libya in response to state-sponsored terrorism.
| | Tuesday, April 17, 1945 -- Flak Bait, a Martin B-26B Marauder, completes a record 200th bombing mission. The aircraft, more missions over Europe than any other Allied aircraft in World War II. It flies 2 more.
| | Monday, April 17, 1989 -- Lockheed delivers the 50th and last C-5B Galaxy transport to the Air Force. The aging line remains in use.
| | Saturday, April 18, 1942 -- Sixteen B-25s, commanded by Lt. Col. James "Jimmy" Doolittle, from the USS Hornet bomb Tokyo. For planning and carrying out this raid, Doolittle is promoted directly to brigadier general & awarded the Medal of Honor.
